I enjoyed this a lot more than Beach Read! I didn't hate Beach Read, but I felt this one has less plot holes and a more believable relationship. Emily Henry has quickly become one of my favorite authors. I see myself coming back to this book many times in the future for a fun, quick read! Easily one of my favorite rom-coms.

Oh it was absolutely wonderful, full of mutual pinning spanning a whole decade, with enough heart wrenching moments to make me shed some tears yet with a satisfying ending to give me some well deserved emotional catharsis. The descriptions of their vacations were amazing and I can only wish I get to visit some of them, is this god dammed pandemic is ever over. Poppy and Alex just had one of those relationships that are full of superficial contradictions, but at their core are as solid as they get and getting to know their current selves parallel to their younger selves over a decade was delightful. We got to see their bond and themselves grow, and that ever present tension spilling in all the aspects of their lives.
Would absolutely reread and recommend!!

What a turn of events! I went into People We Meet on Vacation with low expectations after rating Emily Henry’s first book, Beach Read, 2 stars ⭐️. Yikes. Henry’s second book, People We Meet on Vacation was an entire 180 for me. I absolutely loved the characters, the dialogue, the pacing…I loved it all. It goes to show you that you should not completely call off an author solely based on one book they wrote.⁣

People We Meet on Vacation is about Alex and Poppy, two friends who met in college and started a tradition of going on a vacation together each summer. After graduating, they mostly lived apart but made the effort to spend a vacation together each summer at a different location courtesy of Poppy’s job at a travel magazine. After having a falling out two years ago, Alex and Poppy reconnect and decide to visit Palm Springs together in an attempt to rekindle their friendship. But what ends up happening could be something more…⁣

So raw, honest and just all-round relatable! (not the going-on-vacation-after-vacation part, but the people, their struggles and emotions). I always enjoy stories about friendships/relationships that span years and show how people change, grow over time and still fit together in unexpected ways. Still I would have liked to learn more about their current/future lives and a bit less about all their past adventures.

Honestly did not expect to like this book SO MUCH????? I typically like romance as a side plot, not as the main story, but wow this was amazing??? It did not feel rushed at all, which is usually my problem with romance stories.
Also, the third act conflict was NOT MISCOMMUNICATION. I never felt frustrated with the characters because everything they did was just so thought out and made so much sense given their pasts.
I will admit, Sad Puppy Face was extremely cheesy BUT EVERYTHING ELSE WAS ABSOLUTELY IMMACULATE.

It's official. This is one of my new favorites. Everything about this book I loved. I read through this really quickly. It was light hearted and fun, as well as a bit emotional (It can't be a favorite if I didn't cry at least a little bit). Friends to Lovers is one of my favorite tropes, probably because it's my own love story as well, but this one was done SO WELL. I really understood what some of the issues were and could relate to so much what each of the characters were going through.

I didn't care for Beach Read because I wasn't prepared for the kind of book it was, I expected a lighthearted Rom-Com and instead got Women's Fiction. Which would have been fine if I was expecting that, but I wasn't. This book felt like it was exactly what was advertised and I loved it. If you didn't care for Beach Read (or even if you did!) I highly recommend reading this one.
