It's really good and a bit overwhelming with the different magic systems set in our world. This might be first book issues as the reader is trying to learn all these new terms and characters. There were SO MANY side characters to remember and a few twisty twists and a slight "well that's convenient" plot events.

Even so, the writing is so good, the exploration of grief is amazing and I would be interested in the next book for sure.

I enjoyed this book! I loved Bree’s and Sel’s characters the most, but all of the characters were well developed! I loved how Deonn focused on the importance of tying in Bree’s family history and some of the difficulties she faced at school due to the color of her skin. Bree was such a strong character, and we saw her strength and bravery throughout the entire novel.

I was unfortunately confused around some of the “Arthur” correlations but I think I was able to understand enough as it related to the book. Also, I found it hard to follow some of the Legendborn information. I still don’t understand all of it. I don’t like when I don’t completely understand a book that I read, and this affected my rating.

I will read the sequel.
