Book 7 of The Reading Rush 2019 -2.5?
Yet another book I don’t know how to feel about! I went into this thinking I wouldn’t like it because I don’t like Shatter Me. I also received this book as a Secret Santa present and never would have bought it otherwise. Overall, I think this book was good. It had great things to say (obviously) and said them very well. The perspectives about being a Muslim teen right after 9/11 was eye-opening. I appreciate that Shirin isn’t portrayed as an angel. I just think that there wasn’t that much to this? Other than Ocean there literally wasn’t a plot, and even the Ocean plot seemed like more of a draft. A draft of something good, but still a draft. Also, maybe I skimmed it, but why is this book titled this? Idk, I would recommend to my friends who only read contemporary or ya romance or who are looking for more diverse reads, but I never would have picked this up myself. I wouldn’t have bought it after I read it, but I won’t get rid of it.

Oh god how I loved this book. I had to read it for college and I ended up loving every character. It shows rawly how hard is the adolescence when combined with being a hated minority.

Really good YA novel about Islamophobia, teenage love, loss, life.

i am not okay

I adore all of Tahereh Mafi's writings that I've read thus far, so it's no surprise that I love another one of her books. A Very Large Expanse of Sea is a beautifully written story and I would recommend it absolutely anyone.
