Beginner's Luck is the first in a trilogy about 3 friends, Kit, Zoe, and Greer, who win the Virginia state lottery. Kit is a lab tech / research assistant who gets recruited by Ben Tucker, who works for Beaumont Materials in Texas. Kit is not interested in the offer, but she is interested in Ben. When she believes that Ben betrayed her, her world is turned upside down.
This was a romance, but I wasn't as invested in Kit and Ben as I was in the 2nd installment, with Zoe and Aiden (yes, I read them out of order). I did like the ending, especially as I was surprised by the wedding.

There was a lot to like about this book. Kit was a complex character. She was confident about some things like her job and her friends, but she was also plagued by some things that were holding her back like her dislike for change and her feelings about her father and brother. I liked Ben a lot and that he chose to put Kit first. The third-act misunderstanding was so frustrating, but they patched things up in a charming and satisfactory way. The chemistry between Kit and Ben was quite electric and I liked seeing their relationship develop.

I am not sure what to say about this one.  Kit wins the lottery, she buys a house and meets Ben. Ben and Kit have chemistry but Kit is hard for Ben to read.  Throw in a job and mixed messages and you have this story.

I thought this one jumped a bit and was hard to follow at times.  I liked the concept of this one but never really connect with the characters.

This was a good read. Not amazing, but surprisingly good. Better than expected. And trust me, that’s a good thing considering how many romance books have let me down.

Good dialogue, good characterization, good character development. The romance was good.

Overall, it was decently written. Not something I foresee picking up for a re-read in the near future, but that’s just me personally.

Kit and two friends won the lottery together and each one of them plans to change something in their lives.
This book follows Kit’ story: She is an intelligent and accomplished engineer, quite risk averse due to the instability of her family during her formative years.

Kit loves her job, the life she built for herself and her found family. She decides to keep working and buys an old house that needs a lot of fixing up.
Everything in her life is going perfectly until she meets a Ben, who is in the town to help his father, who is recovering from an injury, and recruit her to the corporate world.

I really enjoy Kate’s writing, how she includes serious issues on her romances and how her character’s work on themselves. This was a great read excluding the miscommunication bit in the end.
