3/5. I enjoyed Knoll’s writing style, and I whipped through this book in a couple of days.

I love a good psychological thriller with an unreliable narrator. TiFanni is a bona fide cold-hearted bitch. It makes the story interesting—to an extent. But it also renders the novel devoid of any emotion.
The plot takes the expected, unexpected twist as most thrillers attempting to achieve status as “the next Gone Girl.” The twist was to some degree predictable yet much sicker than I expected. Given that, I was waiting for more depth and plot layering. It didn’t happen. Generally, this book was entertaining but doesn’t approach Flynn’s level. This book takes the plot of Mean Girls, removes the comedy and character relatability, and adds a metric ton of violence with callous descriptions of sexual assault and a much more graphic depiction of a school shooting.
If you are a survivor of sexual assault/rape, I would not recommend this book. At all. Don’t touch it. I wish I had been warned about that before I read it.

I can’t even. So many triggers. Really disliked the people involved and Ani. Only powered through so I could watch the movie. Movie portrayed a better light on Ani than the book.
Awesome book! I was completely invested in this story, couldn't put it down. Character voice was honest and raw, yet likable.
