I loved that this was an ACTUAL stand alone while also being in the world of Pelion. I have been hunting for 'Travis' after reading 'Archer's Voice' and finally decided to read this one hoping it was a true stand alone within a series.
This story was so good. It had a few spicy scenes but nothing over the top. Very subtle and well done. I resonated with Rory searching for who her father was and wanting to explore that side of her life and know more. I also resonated with Gage's feelings of being trapped under everyone's expectations and standards. His fear of letting his loved ones down and/or not equating to being/doing enough in their eyes.
This story was told well. It kept me hooked the whole read and I finished it in a little over 24 hours.
Bonus that we got to experience Archer and Bree in this story as well

Archer’s Voice & Travis are two of my fav books ever, and I was so happy to return to Pelion Lake!

💭 overall thoughts:
I loved that this was a combo of romance + a mystery to solve, and that we got to see so many familiar faces 🥰
MCs:
This felt like a story about passions vs. obligations - Rory & Gage are both trying to figure out what they themselves really want, even though that has always been shadowed over what’s expected of them, or what they THINK is expected of them.
Having this in common, they are the perfect match. They helped each other see that they could be so much more, if they wanted to.
📖 story:
After a one night stand neither can stop thinking about, Rory & Gage are brought back together to solve the mystery of who, and where, Rory’s father is.
I loved that this brought them into proximity, and gave them an excuse to spend time together, while denying their feelings that just couldn’t be.
🤍side characters:
I loved that we got to see quite a bit of Archer/Bree & Travis/Haven, and get a little update on their lives.
🎙️ audio thoughts:
Both narrators did a FANTASTIC job at bringing the characters to life! I generally struggle when I only have an audio version of a book, yet I was so captivated by this one 😍
tropes + topics:
1️⃣ one night stand
🤩 insta-connection
🚫 forbidden
🌎 different worlds
🐢 slow burn
🌳 small town
💞 dual 1st person pov

I’d say this book is more of a 4.5 than a 4. I was really hesitant to read this one as it seemed like it didn’t really connect with Archer’s Voice and Travis. But low and behold, Mia was able to tie the other two into this one and actually had a great plot twist!
It’s been awhile since I’ve read a book that takes me through a heart break and ‘Aweee’ moment. Gate and Rory’s story had so many adventures, wouldn’t mind reading more their adventures. 🐕
I loved diving back in the Pelion and Calliope world the Mia Sheridan has created. The effortless nature in which she writes draws me in every time and takes me on a journey I didn’t know I was missing. From how Gage and Rory meet, the mystery of finding her father, the heartbreak of loss, and everything in between had me turning the pages to find out what happened next.
Rory’s connection to her mother and the loss she felt after she died, had her looking for answers to questions she didn’t even understand yet. Gage was the “perfect” son in everyone’s mind. He did everything right, followed the rules, stayed on the path his father set, was never reckless, yet still felt unsatisfied.
***Possible spoilers***
I laughed, cried, gasped, a roller coaster of emotions that left me feeling like not just the ending of a wonderful book, but the beginning of life throughout the pages. Loved getting a glimpse of Bree, Archer, Travis, and Haven and the little ones and the connection between them and Rory made it all the more beautiful. When I figured out the connection of Lys to Alyssa, I started bawling.
