Disturbing well done investigative journalism. Bravo to all the women who told their stories to Ronan Farrow.

If you thought you knew everything about the #metoo movement, you’re wrong! Catch & Kill shows the lengths it took to out the disgusting male behavior that has been allowed to penetrate every single corporation in the world for YEARS! (and still is today) This behavior has led to the nauseating political scene we have to endure in the US. Three words I have for Ronan Farrow: brave, honest & determined.

This book covers Harvey Weinstein's sexual predation but more over, dives deep into the lengths to which he went to cover it up! Money used to silence victims & journalists, payouts & NDAs, legal threats, harassment & even stalking by foreign spies, corporate influence & blackmail. Unbelievable!

"Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely"

The fact that money & power allows these men to bully & sexually assault, compromise, extort, terrorize, and ruin the lives of women is completely infuriating! This criminal behavior is not limited to just the wealthy & powerful men of this world (Trump, Weinstein, Lauer etc...) it just enables them to victimize many more women for much longer than the average pervert! UGH!!! Thank God America, despite the ceaseless efforts of Trump & his enablers, still has a free & robust free press!

“In the end, the courage of women can’t be stamped out. And stories—the big ones, the true ones—can be caught but never killed. And when the powerful control the press, or make the press useless, if the people can’t trust the press, the people lose. And the powerful can do what they want.”

Catch & Kill is sometimes hard to follow due to multiple things going on during the timeline (especially the Black Cube Part, which I found really long & detailed) but it's worth the read. It should receive more attention than it has...but you won't see it promoted by any of the news stations. Mind boggling. Definitely recommend! Thank you, Ronan Farrow! #screwNBC #rotinhellharveyweinstein #FUmattlauer

[2019] [Pulitzer Prize Winner] Ronan Farrow’s account of investigating and reporting on the Harvey Weinstein sexual abuse allegations and the systems in place to prevent him and others like him from doing so. “catch and kill”: a term used to describe “the practice of purchasing a story in order to bury it.” The damage this practice can cause is stomach-turning. Star rating to come.

An eye-opening account of how people in power cover up their crimes. The majority of the book tells the horrors of how Harvey Weinstein raped women for decades, how he silenced victims and reporters, and how the scandal was eventually uncovered. The remaining quarter of the book further unravels Matt Lauer’s crimes at NBC (where Farrow worked while uncovering the Weinstein story), and the network’s silencing tactics which mirror Weinstein’s. The writing made for quick reading though I debated docking a star as the book seemed longer than necessary. At the end of it though, I felt that this book covered an important topic that is worth reading about.

Ugh, so much corruption in our world. So many bad people, too, who are enabled and/or protected by others. Good book! Glad Farrow never gave up.

not to sound too psycho, but I LOVE RONAN FARROW. and everything be writes. what a smart articulate and brave man.

the book feel like a very good detective novel but is both more interesting - and chilling - for not being fiction. certain passages depicting the ways different women were abused and violated are awfully hard to read, so headsup, but Ronan never goes into more detail than is necessary or is vulgar.

bonus pts for pundit cameo and for lovett!!! just!!! ah.

tl;dr READ THIS BOOK IT IS GREAT AND IMPORTANT.
