Classic stories and great narration from Derek Jacobi.
Wonderful! Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is really and truly a master of mystery. However, there were only about 1 or 2 unmemorable stories amongst the 12. Otherwise, Conan Doyle has kept me enthralled, and the characters of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson are stunningly written.
I can't believe I haven't reviewed this before....
Thank you Sherlock Holmes: The Definitive Collection on Audiobook.

Obviously 5*
I absolutely ADORE this book and the author. Just WOW. Omg.
The Scandal of Bohemia is hilarious and honestly Irene Adler is such a complex and dear character to the Sherlock Holes series.
The Red-Headed League is honestly beyond hilarious and ingenuity is ridiculously clever. I just love it and I loooovveeee this mystery so much. If you don't pick this book up, read this one.
A Case of Identity is incredibly clever and dark. I love it.
The Boscombe Valley Mystery is soooooo clever and morally demanding.
The Five Orange Pips is honestly synonymous with warnings and gangs and terrifying warnings.
The Man with the Twisted Lip I adored this one too. The crime and mystery is so clever and absorbing. I would never have guessed. Neville St. Clair is such a smart cookie.
The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle is very interesting and again Holmes becomes judge, jury and executioner. How morally conflicting now but how easy for Holmes.
The Adventure of the Speckled Band is one of my favourites too. The foreboding nature of the stepfather and the room terrified me. I also hate something in this cause it creeps me out.
I like The Adventure of the Engineer's Thumb but I do find the ending a shame.
With The Adventure of the Noble Bachelor , I felt it was cute but sad but interesting.
A bit of incest with an interesting mystery for The Adventure of the Beryl Coronet .
Finally, I really enjoyed The Adventure of the Copper Beeches and true love prevails. Yipppeeee!!!!
An honest must-read for any mystery fan.
I adore this one. I really do. There's so many different stories, so many different emotions and so many different twists and turns.

I’ve been reading the Sherlock Holmes books since the beginning of the year. I just couldn’t get into this one.
What a way to end the semester: a bunch of fun, thoughtful, and engaging stories about Sherlock Holmes and Watson, a bunch of mysteries to solve that seem unsolvable until Sherlock reveals his vision, some light reading after the pile of long narratives that made up the most of the semester. They remind me a lot of modern day cop shows (or maybe it should be the other way around) in that all of the stories are variations on a formula.
Sherlock Holmes himself is as entertaining as any character I came across this semester, as his brilliance is as amusing as his contempt for Scotland Yard. Watson, who can't keep up with his brilliance either, doesn't get the abuse the authorities do, but he's a mainstay in the stories--the others aren't. One of these every so often would be a lot of fun to read.
