Another good read from Fiona Davis. This story included a seedy jazz club, which I really enjoyed.
I didn't enjoy this as much as the first two books because I felt like there were too many asks of the reader: ignore this, suspend disbelief about that, never mind that there's no explanation for the other thing... It was still entertaining, but I was a little disappointed.
3.5*

This book started off fresh and interesting. Dual timelines between Darby's story and Rose's. But then it got a bit flat and fizzled out at the end.
Fantastic, riveting story. I love how the chapters changed from past to present. I’m not a fan of books based in the past, but this story had me hooked about New York life in the 50s.
Slow start because I didn't really like the characters at the beginning. But quickly that changed and thoroughly enjoyed the book!
A solid three stars -- read it in one day. Not terribly memorable or thought-provoking, but enjoyable.

This was pretty good. A little slow at the beginning, a little typical. But by the end I was fully intrigued and left relatively satisfied.

I loved the two plots of this book and how they wove together so perfectly. All of the characters were written perfectly as well. So good!
I've read The Lions of Fifth Avenue and The Address by Fiona Davis and loved both of them; I have to say that this is my least favorite so far. I'm not even sure what it was about it, but it just didn't grab me like the others, and parts of it just didn't feel realistic.
Fiona Davis is an excellent writer, though, so even my "least favorite of hers" is still better than many other books!
On to The Magnolia Palace
