This was a fun book. It’s actually three stories, Darby’s, Rose’s, and the story of Rose trying to research Darby’s story. I liked how the author went back and forth between New York City in 2016 and New York City in 1952. Kept me wanting to keep reading for the next chapter.

History and mystery!

I love 1950s New York. Everything seems so glamorous. Fiona Davis did not disappoint! This is an intriguing story of women who lived in the Barbizon Hotel for Women in its prime. I would've enjoyed this more without the back and forth between then and now, but out ended well. Can't wait to read her next book.

Engaging, but it was hard to root for Rose when her actions were so clearly crossing red lines.

A 2016 staff favorite recommended by Jo.

Contrived, full of overused tropes. It had a lot of fluff but little substance. Disappointing for such a long book.
