On the plus side, none of the books in this series are very long. And this one was enough of a change of pace, plotwise, to not be completely a drag. But the entire Gemi/Ashwin plot was so juvenile I just couldn't anymore with them. And it all seemed very contrived and super dramatic. The main plot was a not badly done Orpheus reskin, but almost all the peril was sucked out of it.

My Review: My goddess this book ripped me apart. It picked a few months down the road from book three and after the events of the last book things are pretty depressing for our heroine Kalinda. This one filled me with all the feels, I loved how everything came to an end. It was so nice to see where Kali came from, where her best friend ended up, and just all of it. I was reading this one as fast as I possibly could because it was just so amazing.

The story tied up all the loose ends that were in the story and even gave us a very nice ending. I do wish we would have gotten an epilogue set a few years into the future but we did get something.

Kalinda in this one found out a lot about herself and what she was willing to save the man she loved. I have to say that I didn't see any of it coming even though I probably should have. Because, it was staring me right in the face. In this one we get one more POV of Ashwin which weren't my favorite for the most part but really worked to get the story moving. It was king of interesting to learn what he was going through with marrying a Bhuta and getting the kingdom to accept them as people who deserve equal rights.
Deven my god his chapters ripped out my little heart they were the hardest to read with what he was going through.

The thrilling conclusion to The Hundredth Queen series transport you to the ending you won't be able to put down until the very last page.

To be honest, I didn't know how much more of the story Emily R. King could tell after what the events of THE ROGUE QUEEN. But I was sorely mistaken. This was the book that packed the emotional punch. I was not expecting how much danger and tension and drama this little book could pack within it, and I am glad my expectations were subverted. This became a thrilling journey to a new realm and added more development and arcs for not only Kalinda and Deven, but Ashwin as well.

Kalinda continued to be a powerful, indomitable warrior who I will always treasure. Deven is a kind soul and my heart went out to him at so many moments. Ashwin actually had one of my favourite arcs as well. It was great to be in his head for a while as he struggled to maintain his empire. I really loved his turmoil and watching him overcome his strife. And the side characters! I absolutely love Gemi and Tinely and would love a series with them at the helm!

I will truly miss every one of these characters, as well as this series. All the devastating moments, epic action, sweeping romance, and complex characters. It is truly an exceptional series and has made Emily R. King an auto-buy author for me. I loved it so much and recommend it to everyone who loves strong female characters, adventure, hardy action, and powerful romance. Definitely a must have!

The final installment I will miss the beautiful Narration By Lauren Ezzo!

Kalinda Journeys to seek out the Gods in finding Devon and Fulfilling her hearts wish! Ashwin is trying to appease his people while Devon is fighting for his memories....

But Kalinda with her Fire Makes the biggest journey so far a beautiful ending tying up all the histories and Tales that make the beliefs.

I read all four. And I have mostly enjoyed them. There always seemed to be enough story to keep me plugging along. Definitely books 2 and 3 seemed to drag until well in to the second half.

Unfortunately with this one, I just stopped caring about the characters. Pretty much every single one. And then (spoiler-ish) once you get in to the under world, I just kept saying things like:

Oh, come on.
Seriously?

I was saying them out loud.

To me, rather than nicely wrapping things up, it just got bizarre. The "not good" kind of bizarre, not the interesting kind.

I'm not sorry I read the series. But I had hoped for a stronger final book. So this kind of leaves me moving on to other authors for the moment. But if you find the idea behind the series provocative at all, by all means read it.

Loved this series! I love that Kali goes into the Void to find Devon and rescue him. I hate the god in the beginning of their journey but I’m glad he accepts everything and they get along. I love that Kali and Devon have been reunited and are still in love and have a future together. I love how Kali has begun to train the younger kids. I love that Ashwin finds someone he genuinely cares about and the marraige isn’t rushed anymore. This was an amazing series and I loved it!

Hmmm I really think this series didn't need a fourth book. Ik found Kalindas story to be a bit boring, Ashwins was a lot more interesting. It was nice but didn't really fit properly, the last chapters also felt rushed to an ending.

I really wanted to love this book. I feel like this series could've ended with the last book. Yes it would have been unfortunate that Kalinda and Deven wouldn't have had their happy ending, but that happens. It felt like this book was forced and I honestly had to force myself through it unlike the other three. I see where she wanted to go but there was really no alluding to it in the other books that really brought it all together to make it all make sense in this book.

Overall I’ve enjoyed this series, and it was nice to go back to Kali’s world once more. Especially after the ending of the last book!

I have to say I didn’t enjoy this one as much as the rest of the series, but I think it just didn’t feel like it meshed as much. It simultaneously felt like there was too much going on and not enough. There’s not a lot of action (til there suddenly is and it’s all over in a flash) and the main storylines don’t necessarily tie together as much as I’d like.

I liked Kali’s story the most, though the bits with Cala weren’t my favourites. It felt a bit heavy handed to me. And convenient. I wasn’t sure it really added that much to the story. I did like her travels though. Similarly, Deven’s (though a shorter story) is tied to Kali’s and he’s hit by the same bit. I did like seeing some of his point of view, especially as his circumstances were so different.

Ashwin really let me down here, he felt wishy washy throughout. I liked Gemi though!

Overall still a good story and it is a fabulous world so it’s nice to get more of that, and it is well written. It just felt a little like filler instead of what should possibly have been the end of book three.
