Great story, though the first quarter of the book was a bit rough to get through because it hit very close to home. I’m glad I stuck it out till the end, though. I really enjoyed spending time with the characters. I did predict the “twist” at the very beginning, but that didn’t make getting to that part any less enjoyable.
I just wish all three of the main cast of characters got equal character development—or at least it wasn’t written like the third character didn’t exist when the other two were interacting or something else was going on. I feel like that would have made the characters seem more real and present within the story.
The story was a little predictable at times, but it also had some surprises. Either way, it only got a little “boring” when there was more interiority than action happening.

I forgot how much I love paranormal romances 🥲 I loved all the characters and all the important topics Thomas was able to seamlessly include in the story. Even though I was able to predict the ending pretty early on and the ending was a little too perfect, I still enjoyed it. I highly recommend the audio book, as Roque does a phenomenal job of narrating, and the bonus interview with Thomas at the end is so lovely. I love #Yadrian!!

Great easy read. The trans representation was extremely accurate to life and was clearly written by someone who has gone through the trans experience.
I didn't love how Yadriel felt like he had to prove himself as a boy and this wasn't really disputed apart from by Julien. He did prove himself and that's what made his family accept him, it feels like maybe they should have accepted him before that, or he should have had some apology for them not doing that.
all in all, a very good book and highly recommended.

Lovingly crafted YA, which treats it's Latino trans protagonist with love and respect as a teenager going through a series of fantastical misadventures.
I would argue that the main romance happens pretty quickly, but they are teens so I'll forgive it 😂
Came for queer romance - stayed for the nuanced portrait of Latinx family dynamics ❤️
