In my opinion, this is definitely the best of the Protector of the Small quartet. Kel feels fully realized, realistic and sympathetic.

I loved reading about Haven and its people, the lengths to which Kel would go to keep them safe, and how she did so. I loved reading about the battles and the guerilla warfare. The final conflict was excellent, and I couldn't put the book down.
