I enjoyed hearing his narrative from him rather than official palace releases or tabloids. I especially liked learning about the times he spent in Botswana. Listening to him read the audiobook was enjoyable and entertaining. A couple spots were a bit slow.
Ngl, I loved this one. Kudos to Harry and Meghan for breaking free!! Can’t wait to see what they do.
Не понимаю всеобщего хейта этой книги: да, не без кринжовых моментов, да, 400 страниц нытья, - но он имеет на это полное право)

Мэг и Гарри - молодцы: зарабатывают как могут :)
totally bias cause i love him. great to see things from his pov and things the media has spin negatively. It was a mix of emotions just reading everything he wrote.

Vulnerable. Emotional. Eye-opening. Harry’s story humanizes the royals in a beautiful way. I enjoyed the authenticity of hearing his life stories directly from him.
Tbh I don’t really know what to rate this book. There were parts of it that I found interesting, but my overall feeling is meh. I do give the ghostwriter credit because I knew nothing about the royal family going in and I was never confused.
First of all, the concept of being a spare is actually so fucked. He mentioned being told that he would need to give up vital organs if his brother needed them?!!?!? Crazy. It was interesting to think about how this trauma may have factored into his decisions (his search for self identity, fighting on the front lines knowing he was basically born to be a sacrifice but wanting to do it on his own terms, etc.)
There was actually so much war talk though… like I know how to fly a plane at this point with the level of detail he went into. To summarize the first 65% of the book in one sentence: the story of how privilege guilt became privilege guilt AND survivors guilt. I found myself tuning out during these chapters & feel like a lot of it could have been cut.
Speaking of things that could have been cut: any mention of his penis. Nobody wanted to know how you lost your virginity or hear about how you peed your pants Harry. Please, let’s keep secrets. I counted 15 separate mentions/full blown stories about his penis & stories with a focus on animal balls?
Here are some of the highlights:
“What was the universe out to prove by taking my penis at the same time as taking my brother”
“My penis was oscillating between extremely sensitive and borderline traumatized”
“I went to the north pole and now my south pole is on the fritz”
There were other things that baffled me too—Harry thinking for even one second that it would be funny to go to a costume party dressed as Hitler, Harry bragging about wearing clothes with holes in them & going to sales (a little tone deaf when you think about the fact that some people prob rely on the same sales bc they can’t afford anything else), not preparing Meghan before she met his family (teaching her about customs, etc.), taking all of his wife’s laughing gas because HE was nervous while SHE was giving birth, and playing strip pool at a random bar. Like, does he not realize who he is?? I really think the answer is no. It didn’t feel like he ever thought about the consequences of his actions.
Something else that frustrated me was how hypocritical he seemed. He talked about craving privacy and hating media attention but then he wrote this book exposing his & his family’s secrets. I understand that putting the book out and doing interviews was his way of taking back power, but it’s still a contradiction. He also decided to distance himself from his family (don’t really blame him) but then got mad when he lost the security that they provided.
I know that there are two sides to every story, so it was interesting to think about how words & intentions may have been misconstrued? I can see how some things could be taken out of context and the media definitely did not help mend the rift between Harry and his brother. After reading this book and learning more about the whole situation, I don’t really think I support either side.
Final thought: he has a really great voice for audiobooks and could lowkey make a career out of this, but PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD stop singing

I truly don’t understand the amount of hate and vitriol directed toward Harry and Megan. I found his memoir to be open and honest. I can empathize with him - a young boy who tragically loses his mother and is never helped to deal with it. He grew up in a fishbowl with the ever-present paparazzi who took every opportunity to embarrass him. If each of our mistakes were plastered all over the papers for the world to see- how would each of us fare? And so much of what was published was fabricated. But you are supposed to stay silent against an onslaught of lies?
His royal family left him without security and without the real means to make a living so he could pay for security himself. If you have been prevented from having a traditional profession, capitalizing on your “fame” seems to be the logical, viable option.
I felt there was still so much not said- but maybe that is as it should be. What I was ultimately left with was a touching love story and the metamorphosis of a young prince into an emotionally healthy man and father. I wish the very best for his future.
My rating is solely based on my interest in the book and the story told. I am glad the audio was narrated by Harry himself. The writing seemed a bit disjointed and spotty at times for me. There were big time jumps that seemed jarring- but I still considered it a worthwhile read.

What a dysfunctional family. I hope Harry finds peace and happiness in the States.
This did not need to be a 16 hour audio book. Also really could have done without his kill counts.
