Ok, I loved this.

A quiet cowboy, a prickly witch. Historical and fantasy elements. Witchcraft and cozy houses they teleport to. Crafting and mending and enchantments to help the public.

So casually queer, so tender and sweet at times, also the casual transness throughout this is *chefs kiss. Also the new cover is so gooood.

Love. Yeehaw

This was really good, it just felt like it lost some of the western-charm in the second half

Favourite of the month! WOW!

The whimsy here really drew me in. I was enchanted by the story and in love with our complex characters. I really felt the trans rep in here, in hit hard.
I love the magic in objects and harnessing that power to create a person was amazingly cool.

Really want Austin Chant to write more books! I need them!!

I have a particular fondness for books that focus on a limited cast, in a small space--think The Lawrence Browne Affair, by Cat Sebastian, or Room, by Emma Donoghue. Here, too, a good chunk of the book focuses on Cecily and Roy, in Cecily's home. That narrow scope, from a writing perspective, can generate really interesting results--plot evolutions that happen strictly via interiority, for example.

Anyway, this book is also t4t and has fascinating magic in it--a quick, satisfying read :]!
