I liked this a lot more than the fourth book.

I didn't warm to this one as much as the others. There was nothing wrong with it but I never really felt any connection with Lisette, before or during this book which made it hard to care.

Zach is one of the mysterious Others, but against the Others' credo he has been watching Lisette, heck he even allowed himself to be captured by the Immortal Guardians just so that he could talk to her!

The Others seem to be more than one sandwich short of a picnic - they are so obsessed with not interfering that they torture Zach merely for talking to Seth and telling him that his mobile phone is dead/the Immortal Guardians are trying to reach him.

Seth and Zach are on opposite sides (helping versus not interfering) so Lisette knows her relationship with Zach is a betrayal of Seth.

In the meantime, someone is turning soldiers into vampires - stronger and more lucid than the usual insane vamps, these newvies know how to fight. Then one hits Lisette with a super tranq. The only people who have access to the existing tranq that affects Immortal Guardians are the Immortal Guardians - so who is betraying them from within?

If I had to characterise this book I would say the romance was so-so but the plot development was good - until the end which felt like a re-run of the end of the last book.

I LOVE this series from Dianne Duvall! She is a master writer who sucks me into her world, making me believe in Immortal Guardians and Others. Can't wait for the next installment. :)

I thought Bastian was my favorite male lead but Zach definitely stole my heart. Fantastic read, very interested to see how the the story will continue in the next book.

4.5 stars -- I received a copy of this ebook through netgalley (and promptly missed it's release and so this is very late...) But I'm epically glad that I had a chance to read/reread all of the previous books beforehand to really get into the ZONE. The author does do a wee bit of recap in the books, so it's conceivable that you could just jump in, but I would call you crazy if you did it.

The build up for Zach and Lisette's book was epic, and frankly I'm surprised that it lived up to my lofty expectations...because that can be hard to do. But I really loved the uniqueness of how their relationship developed, and of course what Zach being one of the Others brought to the table. Still a lot of mystery there, though we were thrown the occasional bone here and there. I'm sincerely hoping that we (as the readers) do eventually find out more about them and about the genesis of the Immortal Guardians, because I really really want to know, and I'll be highly disappointed if we're not given something for being good little reading soldiers.

As always, in the end it's the overarching plot and the whole entire cast of characters that really make this series stand out above the rest. When you get a book, you get a love story for a pair of characters, but you always get little glimpses of the other characters here and there, even moments in their POVs, and I really LOVE that because I hate letting go of characters that I love. Because of the nature of Zach, we got a bit more of Seth in this one and that was AWESOME, if not heartbreaking.

While the "big bad" does shift from book to book, the climax with the bad guys tends to be a bit repetitive, and so I'm hoping with the revelations at the end that there will be a bit more variety in the next one. You know, less of the previous books scenes just ++'d. *fingers crossed*

So basically, despite the repetitiveness of some of the plot points, I'm still thoroughly enjoying myself. This one will be hard to top, b/c frankly I was fascinated with Zach from the previous books already. We shall see....

This book was amazing I have been looking forward to Zack's book since Ami first found him on the roof. I love an alpha male that can let his lady be what she needs and still protect her.

This book was so freaking good! And one of my favourites! So much happened, and I think it's a kinda big one in terms of plot and the events that happened within it! So great!

Just finished this and I'm not sure who my favorite is anymore. Bastain, Seth, Roland, or Zach. Heck I even like Chris and the other seconds. This is Lisette and Zachs story and what a story it is. Seth.. Zach.. Seth.. Zach. Seth becomes more humanish? Not really but he has some damn fine qualities. I'm glad him and Lisette are friends and become closer.
This has become one of my favorite series!
