excellent translation.
a boy who doesn't feel anything ends up feeling something. while that's the reader's expectation, the way that it happens is incredibly tragic and shows the main characters progression and development over time with the help of an extreme friendship. the flaws of the many adults in his life are clear, however, their empathy and support are integral to his growth. and a little crush helps out too, although i feel like that segment is rushed. if anything, i could see it as one of the ways for him to realize that he's beginning to feel more rather than him suddenly having a breakthrough. same thing with the ending, although i don't understand why dora changed schools lol.
i liked the book but im not sure if it was a standout. the plotline between the two boys was really good though and i think the story was well executed in general.

Very beautiful, short book, was so engrained in it that I missed my train stop, haha

I’d give it like a 3.6
Super easy, short, and enjoyable read, but the ending feels a bit unsatisfying. It ends too cleanly in contrast to the rush of events at the final part and given Yunjae’s condition, I had different expectations for how his and Gon’s story would end. Maybe I was looking for a different ending because the story reminded me of an abrasive “Gon”-like person I’d met before but didn’t get the chance to say goodbye to.

I remember reading a review of this book that stated even if yunjae wasnt able to feel, the reader was feeling everything for him. This book is about many things. To me it was especially about the gift of being able to feel deeply.
