This book was definitely a page turner for me.
Potential spoilers:
At it's core it's a book about women trying to rise above the hand they've been dealt during and after the war. But this book has mob rivalries, family feuds, snitches, thieves and double crossing.

Enjoyed this quick read. Historical fiction about a group of independent women striving to survive during a difficult time.

decent for a quick read. bit hard to understand all the cockney lingo, but that’s fine. nell is a Girlboss and that’s all

I wanted to really like this because of the strength and cleverness of the main female characters. I appreciated the alternating POVs between Nell and Alice. I figured out early on the relationship between the two crime lords, so that wasn't really the ah-ha moment for me that the author was probably aiming for. The writing style wasn't my vibe, but that could have been intentional, given the time period the book was set in. Overall this book was a miss for me.

It took me a bit of time to get into this (about 100 pages), but after that I liked the story and could see reading another one (if there was a sequel).
