Bite Me: A Love Story I have never really been fond of Abby (from her appearance in other Moore books), but Christopher Moore gracefully narrates as this character for most of the book. Is she annoying? Yes. Will she make you laugh? It’s Moore, so of course!
eh. cute, i suppose. though, not cute enough to warrant any extended interest. I don't think i'll be finishing this one.
I was disappointed in this final(?) installment of the series that began with Bloodsucking Fiends. In that book, Moore brought vampires into the world in a way I could imagine really happening, which was, incidentally, hilarious. It's a specialty of his, to bring fantastical elements into a world very like ours, use them to reflect the funnier parts of human nature, and make it so I don't have to hang my disbelief by the neck until dead.
But this book seems to have tossed that all out the window. The last one, You Suck, seemed more silly than funny, but I had hope for this next one, that it would go back to what made the first one so good.
Sadly, no. Moore seemed way more interested in seeing all the ridiculous things he could do with characters he'd been establishing for 2 books, tossing in a middle-aged Japanese sword-master and 3 weird vampires for good measure, and then wrapping it all up in an emotionally unsatisfying way.
I liked Jody in the last few books. She's learning her way around, surrounded by idiots, but overall, you want to root for her. I could relate to her. But in this book, she's selfish and cruel, and I kind of started wishing she'd die.
The romantic pairings in the end seemed forced, and the whole thing seemed a bit rushed. I was disappointed. And I hope Moore doesn't write another, because they just keep going downhill.
The only bright spot in the whole book was Abby's voice. She's just so flaky and weird that it's hard not to smile at the way she flippantly describes almost being murdered or arrested.

Once again Mr. Moore successfully leaves me in stitches! Loved it!
More quirky and funny; if you want real Fantasy or Sci-fi this book is not it - more or less just a fun and humerous (kinda) book.
I loved the first two books in the series and I will definitely read more Christopher Moore now that I've finished the trilogy. However, the ending of this last book just didn't do it for me. As a romantic I couldn't be happy unless our undead lovers were together eternally!
What a freakin hoot. Might not have liked it as much if I had read it, but Susan Bennett's performance was a thing of beauty. Even if you HAVE read and enjoyed this, you should listen to it. So fun.
