I liked this thriller well enough - there are a few that Iâve listened to on audiobook that all kind of blend together and this falls into that category. Small town, reporter hunting down a killer when the police fail, there are many of the same tropes that I do get tired of. The ending was kind of abrupt and that wasnât my favorite either. But it did keep me entertained on my drive to work.
I really liked this book. I was kept in suspense until the very end which is very unusual. I am still shocked by the ending. The protagonist, âMargotâ is a strong character. I love her! I would definitely read more books with her as the main character.
For a short time I think this novel was loosely based on the Jon Benet Ramsey case because there were similarities in the two books. You will likely notice that tooâŚ.

This literally wouldâve gotten 5 stars if it wasnât for that cliffhanger ass ending
This was a stellar debut book that I think fans of thrillers and true crime will really appreciate. I will say that the ending chapter left a little bit to be desired, but overall? This was fantastic.

The writing was good, the plot and twists decent, but that ending ruined it for me. If you hate abrupt endings at pivotal moments, I suggest you pass on reading this book.
