I just can’t. That isn’t a literary device. You can’t end a book that way.

Margot is relentless and while you can follow her lead a little bit, basically every single character is on trial for a case that is over 20 years old. There are great mini details that connected different parts of the story together, and I really liked that. Glad it was a book, would not want this to be a movie. Some of the topics details really got under my skin. There is a lot of emotional suffering going on.

I didn't like this book as much as I thought I would. I don't know if it was just that the stakes were too low (for my taste), if the characters were just unlikeable, or if it was the fact that every chapter we were thrown into "this person did it," no "this person did it, "no THIS PERSON did it," etc. etc. etc. I wanted time to theorize and the pacing didn't allow for it. It's a bummer too because the premise was so promising, it just didn't work for me.

Also this is so specific but this book felt very wordy. I know this is Ashley Flowers' debut novel, however I feel like it could have used a healthy edit. I am also so very aware that I am biased bc I am reading this while also reading Emily Henry's new book, and, to me, it's like a night and day difference.

I'm sorry, book club. :(

This book had enough twist and turns to last you a lifetime, lol. It was very interesting and kept you on the edge of your seat. I love the epilogue out the end, where it really made sense for the reader to understand how everything came together. I thought I could predict the ending, but I definitely did not.

I genuinely loved this book so much, but the only reason I'm putting it as 4 stars instead of 5 (I might change it later when "It" is not as "fresh") is because I HATE CLIFFHANGERS!!! AAAAAAAAAAA

Not sure if I was into it because I am a big Crime Junkie fan or if it was really good. It's fast-paced and twisty, and you are left not so sure of how it's all going to end.
