I would actually like to give this book a 3.99 star rating, but that is not a valid increment. Truly, the book was a 4 star read, but the ending left me with too many questions that I am forced to “realistically” answer for myself. So far that reason only, I’m giving All Good People Here a 3.99 star rating.

So the mystery is good.. primarily because it’s so obviously inspired by JonBenet Ramsay. I will not give this known true crime junky of a writer credit for this plot.
Plenty of reviewers are confused at the end. I am not confused, but I am disappointed. Very fast and sudden and not in a good way.
The worst thing of all is the crazy leaps in logic it takes.
Our intrepid reporter is either the luckiest person alive or psychic to be able to consistently and conveniently track down people the way she does. Took me completely out of the realm of believability. Full eye roll. In true crime spirit I have put together a dramatic reenactment of the events/:
“Yeah so I found concrete evidence my main suspect was living in a major metropolitan city, and I even knew where he’d been shopping, but my solid lead there completely shrugged me off. Bummer! So I did a little google and found his mugshot from a decade ago but nothing recent, shucks! and then I remembered to check for aliases. And I found one! But it was also a dead end. double shucks. But then I put on my thinking cap and I remembered that EVERYONE who knew him said he was artsy… but THEN I remembered he’s a criminal so he couldn’t really be THAT artsy, duh… so the only answer was that he must work at a hobby lobby! bingo! and so I closed my eyes and randomly picked one of the dozen with the same zip code… I had a hunch they would have an active location-specific Facebook page and, sure enough, they did! So I scrolled through for forever and I was going to give up because my fingers were getting tired but I didn’t and on the last picture from four years ago at the bottom of the page there was a blurry blob in the background that had the same vibes as the mugshot.. Gochya! So I flew in (even though I have no money and that’s a major plot point, but whatever) and knocked on the door even though it was closed. Most stores won’t open just because you knock on the door so I was going to give up and walk away, but then, someone opened the door for me… and wouldn’t you know it? It was exactly who I was looking for! I sound surprised but I wasn’t, because I’m a super sleuth. I was sure it was him— I hadn’t seen him in 20 years but he looked just like I guessed that my dead bff might grow up to look like! And I had a hunch he would talk to me, so I shot my whole wad right then and there and told him who I was… i even called him by his real name, right there in public!… He was real busy, on account of being at work, but invited me over for drinks later that night and gave me his real address… I ignored my women’s intuition and accepted his invitation… anything for the scoop… and thank god I did because he spilled his guts with little prompting! He told me every little thing and he didn’t even make a move on me so he must’ve trusted me with his secrets. #starreporter #truecrime #ballin”
