4.5 stars Zombies and post civil war landscape told from the perspective of a girl on the front lines. Jane is strong willed, impulsive, and smart. I sincerely enjoyed every bit of this book.

Wonderful characters and ingenious worldbuilding. I don't usually go for zombie stories, like, at all, but for this series I will definitely make an exception.

I didn't feel satisfied at the ending but I'm about to see if there is a book 2!

It took me a long time to pick up this book since I find it hard to read things about slavery but I’m really glad that I finally read it. There were some parts that were hard to read but I loved the story and cant wait to read the next one. Jane was a great character and so was Katherine towards the middle of the book.
