Good story with an unexpected twist, unexpected to me at least.
The story is a novel adaptation of one of Agatha Christie's plays. I enjoy reading plays and this novalization still has a play feel about it more than a novel. I enjoyed it very much as a quick read.

This is one of Agatha Christie 's plays that has been adapted to a novel and it is a super quick and very entertaining read. This is the second adapted play I have read and I enjoyed them both immensely.
The perfect evening mystery novel. Highly recommend.

I actually guessed right who did it! With Agatha Christie, there is no such thing as coincidence.

Very fun with lots of twists. It felt very familiar to me, as if I'd read it before, but it was still really fun to read.

From the beginning I had a feeling that the person who killed Richard was either Jan (because he had the mental and emotional capacity of a child, and because he seemed anxious to kill Richard) or Starkwedder (because a stranger willingly integrating himself into a murder just seemed way too suspicious). As someone who has read and watched a lot of mystery/thriller books I had a feeling that Starkwedder was actually MacGregor (the father of the boy who was killed by Richard). Agatha did a pretty good job of trying to convince the reader that there were other murder suspects, of course practically everyone had a motive.
As the story progressed I became more convinced that the murderer was in fact Starkwedder and that Jan was just there as a distraction, I mean it was really too obvious especially when he "admitted to killing Richard".
When Starkwedder started to say how easy it would be for someone to fake their death, I screamed out in excitement because I knew he was talking about himself. Then he finally admitted to being MacGregor, I was absolutely beside myself.
Excellent book!! Can't wait to read her other works.
