My dad gave me this book and I decided to read it since he’s one of the biggest The Doors fans I’ve ever known.

I could not put this down because I always seemed to want to know more and more about the life of Jim Morrison. I wanted to know what captivated and motivated him. I was drawn to his life, despite not agreeing with 80% of the choices he made or the thing he said (we all know he was a very controversial and problematic person lol).

I think that the reason I’m giving this three stars is all about the fact that I felt like the author was super biased. It seemed that I was reading a fan blog at times, when I wanted to be reading a memoir. The author told us the many things Jim Morrison did wrong but always seemed to dismiss it when in reality he shouldn’t have.

Biography of Jim Morrison. Not much to say...if you like the Doors or Jim Morrison, I'm sure you'll like it!
I was way into Jim and the doors when I was in 8th and 9th grade. Probably not a good thing...his life seems so glamorous, which works if you're of age and a rock legend. It doesn't work that way when you're 13.

Jim Morrison was a literary genius, but he sure was a terrible person.

For me, personally, this book was fantastic. It was very well written and easy to understand and read. Also chocked full of interesting stories, it made me feel like I knew Jim and what he went through. It left me wanted to know more about the doors. Whether you are a fan of the doors, not a fan of the door, or just want to learn more on the crazy subject of rock and roll, this book is good for anyone looking for a entertaining and interesting read.

It's difficult to feel sympathy for Jim Morrison. A rock god who drank his sorry ass to death. He was blessed with immense talents, as a poet and performer, yet he let his cravings devour him like too many of our idols before and since.
