3.5 stars. It was cute but sometimes the girls were annoying.

A lovely book! I think I enjoyed Ballet Shoes’ plot a bit more, but this one was very engaging!

One thing I found “off” was all the talk about Hilary not being a real niece because she was adopted. How horrible!

I plan to read the rest of the shoe books now because the stories are charming.

One of the books I read over and over as a kid. Begins with tragedy — two sisters have lost their parents in freak accidents — then shifts to uncertainty when they go to live with their aunt and uncle. The aunt runs a dancing school and is not a villain, but is not a very sympathetic person either. Fortunately for Rachel and Hilary there are other, kinder folks around them and they always support each other.

Full of dancing and theater performance, and good advice, this remains a solid comfort read.

My least favorite of the "Shoe" books, but it is still an enjoyable read.

Not what I expected, but pretty good nonetheless.
