I had never read anything by Bushnell but I am a fan of "Sex in the City". A couple of years ago I went to a reading at Booksmith where Bushnell read from Lipstick Jungle. She was an engaging speaker and I decided that I should read one of her books.... well, maybe I picked the wrong one. "Trading Up" was trite and none of the characters were likable. It was trashy even for chick lit.

I FINALLY FINISHED THIS

Wow this was truly one of the hardest books for me to finish. The review on the cover says “titillating drama” but in all honestly there was almost zero plot, much less drama, in this 563-page book. It has taken me WEEKS to read. I’m so glad it’s over. I only finished because it took me so long to get into this.

DONT READ THIS! This is nothing like sex and the city and nothing like the author’s other books.

I didn't have high expectations for this book. I had read Bushnell's "Sex and the City" and loathed it. "Trading Up" was much better. I read it while on vacation in Hawaii and it was perfect for beach reading. It's light, fluffy and fun. It reminded me a lot of a Jacqueline Suzanne novel and even had references to "Valley of the Dolls."

It was ok. A bit unrelatabe, but good for what it was.
