A VERY slow moving book. I mean it's not a bad read. I quite liked the writing but honestly, you could skip to the last few pages until something happens and the plot twist is kind of lame. I, personally, didn't see it coming, but it wasn't interesting, either.

If I’m being honest, the most interesting thing about this book is its title. It’s mildly interesting, but I found myself to be mostly bored while reading it. Despite the tension of some events, I… didn’t feel tense. Just mildly curious. I didn’t have the urge to keep reading and not put the book down.

It gets repetitive. Really repetitive. It’s all same: the wife keeps wondering what’ll happen to her, wondering if she ever knew her husband, wondering how the village people will perceive her, wondering how her daughter’s life would change. It’s exhausting.

When a “thriller” is not gripping me, I definitely expect a huge twist at the end to boost it. By the last couple of chapters, I was beginning to think the twist wasn’t coming, and I was gearing up to give this two stars, but lo and behold: it did! So I’m giving it three stars.

In my opinion, the epilogue ruins this book. It sets things up for a sequel, which I think is absolutely unnecessary. None of the characters are interesting. Not even the serial killer in question. I wouldn’t be holding my breath waiting for a sequel.

This was a speedy and easy read that followed the standard formula of a domestic thriller albeit with a few twists at the end that made it much more enjoyable. At times it did drag with the plot and the main character Beth is very bland and I neither liked nor hated her. She's just there moving the story along. It's a good book to pass the time with, take on the plane, or read at the beach/pool.

4/5 stars!

I wanted to read this book because Paramount + have been coming out with so many book adaptations I can’t keep up! I love reading books then watching the adaptations and then annoying the person I’m watching it with the ‘well that doesn’t happen in the book!’

I have to admit though this book had a slow start. This book is quite short as the writing is quite large and it’s around 350 pages this book could easily be finished in an afternoon in one sitting. Even though not a lot happens in the first half it doesn’t feel sloggish it feels like there is something creeping around the corner your just waiting for a bomb to be dropped. I was tapping my fingers a little bit when reading the first half but I have to admit it is actually worth the wait. The twist wasn’t jaw dropping as I did have my theories but it was still so shocking to me.

I thought this book might be around victim blaming that mob (yummy mummy) mentality and being in everyone’s business. The press and how it effects the victims of tragedy. Also the horrific mind into serial killers mentality. Not really is all as it seems with the main character. The last half of this book was actually so entertaining. I have to admit it’s not a 5/5 star read it didn’t rock my world but I have to admit it has entertained and shocked me. I will be watching the adaptation!
