Really heartfelt and full of drama but kinda normie/conservative in how it described drugs and people with addictions and incarceration and crime.

Could not connect with the characters and the plot of a person out of jail falling in love with the cop who put her there is the most repulsive kind of genre I could think of.

I loved everything until the ending. It felt abrupt and I wanted the story to keep going.

Geraldine thinks she solved all their problems but she really caused all of them.

Well this novel came as a very unexpected surprise! I haven’t read anything by this author (but now will be looking for her bestselling “We are the Brennans”) and I wasn’t sure what to expect from the synopsis. But wow- what amazing writing and what unique, flawed, heartwarming, complicated characters.

The family relationship was the focal point for sure- the siblings and their past traumas, and also ten year old Connor, who is fiercely loved by his dad and both his aunties (who show their love in very different ways). This family loves each other to the core, but also have difficult memories & conflicts they need to work through.

Part family-drama, part police/detective/crime novel, part romance- this book really took me on journey & I loved every bit of it!
