This was one of the first YA books I ordered for my library during my internship. It sounded highly amusing so when it came in I snatched it. The first chapter was a little slow, but after that I blew through it. Considering the trend of interest now with teens this book might actually work to introduce them to some actual vampire lore (not sparkly vampires, sorry to Twilight Fans).
My one beef with this book was that it ruined “Life of Pi.” Granted, I probably should have read it by this point in my life, but spoilers of other books in your books are a no, IMO.

It takes several chapters for the story to actually start, but overall it’s very funny and enjoyable.
Bloodthirsty is a coming of age story that captures high school life perfectly - the teachers, the cliques, the thousands of insecurities. It’s an incredibly perceptive and intelligent book that any age can relate to - from the teens that are going through the hell that is high school, to the adults that have those days where they feel like that lost and insecure 16-year-old. We can all connect with at least one of the brilliant characters in this book.
On top of a unique story, the tone of the novel was perfect, instead of taking some angsty and moody route, the author made it laid back and wickedly clever. The writing is so witty and hilarious that Joss Whedon himself would be jealous of Meaney’s skills. The jokes are flawless, not forced, with just the right dose of pop culture. I was laughing SO much as I read this.
This is definitely a book I would recommend to anyone.

Finbar (or Finn) and his family just moved to New York and about time too. Finn and his twin Luke went to a private all-boys school and Finn never fit in. Now the brothers are at two different schools and for Finn, it's never been better. There are girls at his school, for one. And the punishments aren't bad for two. Girls are still a problem for Finn, but when a girl on the subway mistakes Finn for a vampire, he gets an idea. He's already allergic to the sun and maybe this is his ticket to getting lots of girls. Turns out the girl he really wants, Kate, isn't impressed with his vampire status.
I liked Finn and how the book flows. He tells his story. While I find it hard to believe anyone would believe he's a vampire (or vampires are REAL), it's very amusing.

An enjoyable farce. I'm a little overloaded by all the pop culture references (they just tend to make things dated very quickly), but, overall, this is a clever, quirky book.
Totaaaal niet mijn ding. Voelde heel raar. Een jongen die aan een bebloede knie ging likken? IEK! nee! Niet mijn ding.
I loved this one so many references to most vampire books i read on a daily basis this was very intriguing pretending to be a vampire wow amazing if only i could do that. Meaney understands that the media is crazed about vampires an all the references were amazing she did a good job on illustrating that loved every word of this so recommending it.
The plot is interesting and once it gets into the story is interesting but it takes half the book to get there.
Big downer for me is how degrading it is to women. The whole slut and prude thing.
Another big downer was the over use of slurs. Teenagers obviously use slurs but they were used way too much in this book.
Ending was well executed.
