Another enjoyable read of the second book with Rebecca as the main character for this original story. :)

So glad that I continued on reading the resident evil books as the more I read the first two, the more I noticed how different they are from the actual games from capcom.
I really liked the caliban cove one as it made Rebecca have more spotlight throughout it which put a smile on my face as she is one of my favourite characters from the game.
In my opinion it does sadden me how much spotlight Rebecca doesn't get in the games as she is a really good character to play as and to read about in the books too, a mean caliban cove was simply amazing to read I can't wait to see if Rebecca appears in the other books as like I said she needs more spotlight.

Pretty cool and probably canon explanation for what Rebecca Chambers was doing while Raccoon City went to Hell.

SD Perry does a great job capturing the spirit of Resident Evil with zombies, mutant monsters, mad scientists and stalwart cops (special agents? Swat teams? I don't think I'll ever really know what the STARS are).

Was surprised she killed off some of the original characters. The book seemed to like them too much I was worried Perry lacked an appropriate blood-lust. Not to worry though, things do get fatal at the end.

Wondering if I could get a game designer to put together a Caliban Cove level on the Unreal engine? Would love to fight zombies in a lighthouse. It's a pretty unique setting for the genre.

It was alright. All the action was kinda shoved into the last few chapters but other than that...

My favorite part was when
you get to see some of the thoughts/feelings Karen was having while she was becoming infected.

In this second book, the writer really took pains in creating the background of the story, especially since this is supposed to give us a peek as to what happened between Resident Evil 1 and 2.

It's good that the writer made such an effort to make the story more interesting. But the thing is--the bad thing is, I think S.D. Perry overdid it. There was just too much of the backstory that it became the focus of the story rather than the action at present (which is definitely not Resident Evil's style, and I think that's not actually the original aim of the author).

I guess another problem why I didn't like it that much is because it centered on Rebecca. Yes, I love Rebecca's character. She's awesome, actually. But she's not the type of character that the RE games would follow, because RE is all about action. And Rebecca is not about action...

SpoilerBut I liked how many characters died in this book, because at least, the author is being realistic.

So in the end, I found Caliban Cove not as exciting as the first one. (At least [b:The Umbrella Conspiracy|221267|The Umbrella Conspiracy (Resident Evil, #1)|S.D. Perry|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1172823156s/221267.jpg|214262] brought me back to good ol' days...)

I kept looking forward to finishing this book so I can move on to the next book, because I just loooooooove the title of the third one~
