Look, I loved all of SJG books before and this one as well. We are not surprised by that point, are we?

A pretty great read! Some parts got a little predictable but I overall enjoyed it!

After yet another miserable social humiliation, average nice guy Freddie has finally had enough. Determined to completely revamp his social life, get a glow up, and basically level up as a person, Freddie decides to say yes to life. Soon enough, he's joined the school production of Grease (backstage, but still), and even found a boyfriend (who doesn't acknowledge his existence in public, but that's besides the point). But is there someone else waiting in the wings to tell Freddie 'you're the one that I want'?

Lots of fun! So, SO hilarious at times, especially the email addresses? Oh my god. Simon James Green excels at humour, especially of the unbelievably awkward kind, yet he grounds it in endearingly sweet characters, and I always think his books remind me of a queer teenage-populated Bridget Jones film. I'll definitely always read any of his books, but what I'm waiting for is a little more emotional resonance from the main characters. He writes gentle romance beautifully, so I'd love it if the stories leant into this aspect with more confidence.

This marks the end of my SJG binge, until I get around to purchasing Heartbreak Boys.

Freddie starts sixth-form determined to be less forgettable. He vows to start saying 'yes' to more things, which leads to him joining the school play and flirting with new boy Zach. But changing everything about yourself isn't the best way to find love...

Typical boy meets boy rom-com centred around Grease as the school play. Lots of gay representation, really enjoyed the exploration of what it means to be a queer teen.
The ending, whilst obvious, did come about pretty naturally which was well done.

Good, funny and a quick read but nothing special and a little too cringe sometimes. Something about this didnt click the same way heartbreak boys did.
