I appreciate the length and tone of the book. It's not filled with repetitive fluff or bragging about credentials or name dropping, like some others I've read. It's to-the-point and conversational, with the author seeming fairly relatable.
It succinctly discusses an important aspect to communication that many other books and lectures talk around or miss altogether.

This isn't a book I'd typically reach for but it somehow popped up on my radar through my Kindle. The title caught my attention and it was available to immediately start reading for free through some Amazon service.
I thought it was good. The author values the reader's time as well and doesn't bother stuffing this book full of unnecessary pages. The book gets to the point and provides guidance towards being a more validating person.

Insightful & thoughtful
“I Hear You” provides great advice and examples on how to validate others and one’s self in an effort to foster better connections with others, improve relationships and simply be a better listener and better able to help others.
The methods can be used for so many different relationships, with self, coworkers, spouses, friends, love interests, etc.
After reading this book, I noticed when my roommate validated a frustration I was experiencing and how quickly I calmed down after hearing that. And he didn’t even read the book yet! :)
I’m looking forward to trying out the tactics and especially hope it helps foster self-compassion.
(I received this ebook via a Goodreads giveaway, with gratitude, and these are my unbiased thoughts.)

I really enjoyed how I Hear You: The Surprisingly Simple Skill Behind Extraordinary Relationships was written by Michael S. Sorensen. There wasn't any superfluous fluff or padding. It makes its points to the reader clearly and concisely. And the points about validation are wonderful. As you read this book you realize all of the times that you have offered or received validation and the times when you haven't offered or received invalidation. It really is powerful stuff. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants to become a better listener, spouse, parent, sibling, child, or friend.
I really enjoyed this book. It was a quick, easy and insightful read. Without realizing it, there have been many situations where I have offered unsolicited advice to friends, family, coworkers and acquaintances. It is so easy to do, but it is even easier (and perhaps less stressful) to simply offer validation. I did notice I have a few of the phrases down already that I said to invite venting/offering validation when listening and speaking with others.
I liked the real world situations because they were relatable and easy to see how the different scenarios and conversations could have varied greatly.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and will be referring back to it and recommending it. Thank you Michael Sorensen.

Good reminders
A good reminder of how validation can be an communication tool; professionally and personally. Good book if you are unfamiliar with how validation can be effective.
