Not my favorite Penelope Douglas novel and you can definitely feel its age, but if you’re looking for a quick somewhat spicy taboo-light romance, give it a go. I did not like the “twist” at the end though. Felt completely unnecessary and dumb.

This is more of a 3.5 than a four. It's another solid read from Douglas and while I liked the interplay between Easton and Tyler, I just didn't find myself as drawn in to either character as in some of her previous books.

***spoiler alert***
I really don’t think I am a fan of Penelope Douglas. I have read multiple books by her and I have only really liked one, that being Birthday Girl. This was ok. I did like the single father aspect. I the twist of the brother being the one that was rummaging through her stuff was ok, I would have liked it to be darker and more dramatic but that could be my demented mind at play

Easton Berbrooke and Tyler Marek superiority. This audiobook was A1. This is definitely one of my favorite romance books hands down.

Pen did not disappoint ONCE AGAIN. She know how to keep you IN. I was ADDICTED TO THIS DAMN BOOK. I legit couldn’t put it down. She is my comfort read, that’s how much I love her books.

This is definitely my second favorite book of hers. Nothing will ever top Birthday Girl but MAN. THIS BOOK WAS FUCKING TOP TEIR. The taboo is this was fucking phenomenal and had my legs FUCKING CLENCHING. I was drenched like Niagara Falls.

I love me some Daddy Pike in Birthday Girl but TYLER MAREK, FUCK YES. I would let them do anything to me at their will.

Also, I’m really fucking pissed that Eastons’ fucking brother DID THAT TO HER. After everything! I WANTED TO PUNCH HIM IN HIS FUCKING NUTS.

Anyways, I will always and forever read P. Douglas books. She is by far my favorite author. She will be yours too after you read this.

I love everything by Miss Penelope Douglas! This was so good, and not quite what I expected from previous books by her, but I absolutely loved it!

I loved the slight age gap, the teacher/parent dynamic, and seeing how he healed the relationships he had broken in the past. Their tension was so well done, as well as the spice! So good! I loved her relationship with her students and gaining Christian's trust. I also loved her relationship with her brother and discovering what exactly happened in her past and how it all played into her present. This was just overall a very good quick read!

Spoiler I called it being her brother pretty early on, though I did doubt myself a few times with the neighbor teacher being certain places randomly and seeming to butt in. But it gave off a very friendly, trying to make a new friend and being slightly awkward about it vibe, so I didn't distrust my instincts too much. Also, I kept waiting for the moment when Tyler would drop out of the race because he wanted to focus on his son and his relationship and the business he had built and cared so much about, so that not happening seemed sort of weird for his character because he didn't seem super into the actual politicking side of politics.

Grab your earbuds and listen to Misconduct

  • Carrie Branch and Guy Locke narrate Misconduct as Penelope Douglas provides the perspective of Easton Bradbury and entrepreneur Tyler Marek. Easton and Tyler meet at a shindig and share an innocent but heated moment. The chemistry is off the charts and both think about the other. Their story had all the elements I love from wicked banter to wipe your tears moments and it was wrapped up in a passionate tale that left me breathless.

  • Easton is a teacher at a private school where she uses innovative and edgy methods to teach her students. Easton has reinvented herself after ending a career in tennis and I loved getting to know her. She is edgy, outspoken and with the intelligence to back it up. She is fractured, but strong, proud yet forgiving and Douglas peeled back her layers allowing me to connect and understand.

  • Tyler Marek did not get successful by playing nice but he is also a man of indignity. He has his eye on the political arena where he feels he can make a difference. He works crazy hours and is both feared and respected by his associates. The man can be a tad domineering, particularly in business and a couple of times Easton and I both wanted to throttle him. Thankfully, Easton is not the least bit intimidated and lord was it fun watching her handle him. Douglas shares his journey as Tyler juggles success, his campaign and personal life.

  • Tyler had a son when he was twenty and while he has supported both mother and child, he very much wants to be a part of his son’s life. It is a learning process and Douglas shared more than a romance with us but also a father-son relationship that was complicated, humorous and tender. It gave the story depth and heart while further allowing us to understand Tyler.

  • There is a subtle thread of suspense/danger that is developed from Easton's past and it added interest, suspense and was cleverly written.

  • The chemistry in this heated romance is off the chart. It has elements of a forbidden romance but there is also friendship, understanding and trust making it a powerful love story. Penelope Douglas brought these characters to life, making their conversations, intense passion and complications feel very genuine. I love when two strong, take charge personalities come together because the storm they created was magnificent. I loved that even though there is an age difference between them they each learn and grow because of the other.

  • The narrators did an excellent job but I preferred Easton at 1x speed and found I preferred Tyler at 2x speed. I loved the use of both a male and female narrator. It was so well done, even the sex scenes felt realistic.

  • New Orleans baby!  I loved the attention to detail regarding the city. Stories set in the Quarter always draw me in and Douglas knows NOLA.
