This was a meh read for me, and that's coming from a serious Penelope Douglas fan.
I think I will always get an ick factor from politicians, so Tyler was not my kind of MMC. I wasn't as irked by Easton as some other people seem to be, I thought she was an interesting enough FMC. The story was engaging, and the family dynamics certainly held my attention.
Penelope Douglas does write excellent characters, I will keep foraging for more unread little gems :D

Not my favorite Penelope Douglas read so I would recommend her other works before this one. But if you like a bit of an age gap romance and a parent/teacher relationship then you should check it out.
LOVED IT!!!!!
Penelope Douglas what can I say about another incredible book. Misconduct will have you flipping pages fast to see what’s next, the sexy times between Easton and Tyler is crazy good! Teacher and Parent connection with some real life problems, this book will leave you in love with a story of, I think, true love! Misconduct is easily one of my favorite reads this year!
Let me first say I really love this book, not just because there is a hot guy in it LOL and it has crazy hot scenes but I loved that I almost related to both characters a lot. I could see real life situations in the pages of this book and I really connected a lot with the story so I really felt like I was written into the page of Misconduct.
Easton is dealing with a lot from her past; it’s making her the very cautious and unattached women she has become. To let go of it all might not be so easy even if she has found a man she might just love and a passion for a teaching that has made her fell something again. Her secrets and obsessions are ruining her life and she is not sure if anything can really fix it.
Tyler is a man of money, status and he likes control but a women like Easton might just ruffel the life he has so well floated through. Dealing with a son who wants nothing to do with him and trying to become someone, he might find the one thing he cannot have; the women whom might just be the one!
I loved Easton and Tyler and I just loved their story, their connection and the fight not only in their own life but the life of the past and future. This is a SHORT review but I think you REALLY need to pick this one up if you are looking to reads it but just wanted that for sure reason to do it. I have been asked a FEW times; “Should I read Misconduct?” and my answer is always “YES, its filled with just everything a book should have and it will have you hooked form the first page to last, with LOTS of journeys and secrets to be unfolded.” So I highly suggest it with out giving a LONG review and telling you everything because I think going into this book with not A LOT of info makes it THAT much better!!
Penelope does such and remarkable job sucking you in and holding you there till the last part. She has written anther book that will stay with you long after its over, and make you want to go back in and re-read because maybe you just missed something while sucked in to the stories of two people I think were just made for each other.
I can NOT wait for more from Penelope, I have read everyone of her book so i am very excited for what’s to come!!!

This is one of the worst books I've read. It was short so I finished it. The characters were annoying and the storyline was bad.

This book would be for someone who is in the mood for something forbidden, slow-burn, a little dangerous, and emotionally intense — with lots of power play, sexual tension, and a strong, mature romance. It’s perfect if you want a story where boundaries are tested, sparks fly between unlikely people, and the build-up feels electric. Also great if you're craving a hero who’s confident and dominant and a heroine who's smart, independent, and a little guarded.
The first half focuses a lot on building the tension between Easton and Tyler — their banter, glances, off-limits moments — so if you love slow-burn chemistry where every interaction feels heavy with meaning, you'll probably really enjoy it. Once their relationship crosses that line, the pace definitely picks up, and the second half moves faster with more drama, steamy scenes, and emotional depth. It’s not a "rush through it in one night" type of book for most readers — it’s more of a savor the tension, enjoy the slow unraveling kind of vibe. 🔥
Spice scale I'd say it’s about a 🌶️🌶️🌶️ to 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ (3.5 out of 5 peppers) — pretty steamy, but balanced with plot and emotional tension.

The build-up is intense — lots of stolen looks, close proximity, heated conversations.
When the spice happens, it’s explicit, detailed, and emotional, not just physical.
There are several spicy scenes (not just one and done), and they get hotter as the story progresses.
The forbidden aspect (teacher + student’s parent) adds this layer of danger that makes the scenes even more charged.
While there’s a plot (family drama, career ambitions, a bit of mystery involving Tyler’s political life), the heart of the story is Easton and Tyler’s personal growth — how they handle their attraction, the walls they’ve built around themselves, and the emotional risks they have to take. It’s about how they collide, challenge each other, and change — so you spend a lot of time inside their heads, feeling their tension, their doubts, their craving for connection. The external drama just adds extra heat and stakes to their relationship.

I’d give Misconduct a 4/5 stars. 🌟
- Character development is strong, with both Easton and Tyler growing emotionally and learning to open up. Their flaws are relatable and make their eventual growth feel earned and satisfying.
- The tension and slow-burn romance is absolutely gripping. The chemistry between them is electric, and the forbidden aspect adds so much to the stakes of their relationship.
- The writing is engaging and pulls you into the emotional struggles of the characters, making you root for them even when they’re at their worst.
Themes/Topics:
- Forbidden Romance: The attraction between Easton and Tyler is forbidden (teacher and the parent of her student), making for a compelling and tension-filled dynamic.
- Emotional Growth and Healing: Both characters go through significant emotional growth, overcoming past traumas and learning to open up to love and vulnerability.
- Power Dynamics: Tyler’s wealth, influence, and control contrast sharply with Easton’s more grounded and independent life, creating a push-pull dynamic throughout the story.
- Trust and Vulnerability: A major theme is learning to trust others, especially when past experiences make it hard to do so.
- Age Gap: There’s an age gap between Easton and Tyler, which adds a layer of complexity to their relationship.
