The idea had so much potential but the execution is unfortunately very boring. I dnf around page 127 - just couldn’t get into the story or characters :/ wish it was darker with more horror and less YA vibes

Oh the mountains
This book is so good. It’s not my culture and I barely know anything about the area but by the end I felt like I understood a bit better. The cover is stunning and sums up the feeling I got while reading well. The dual pov was excellent and I liked how it unfolded over time.
The author even shares a few examples of journals where they got inspiration from! Excited to check those out. I’m sad it’s a debut novel because I want to read so much more by them.
I does however read a bit ya at times and maybe it is ( i can’t remember at this time) so it felt a bit rushed or simple at times. But as a whole I enjoyed it and probably would re read in a few years.

I honestly think this is partly bc of the narrator. She’s probably a lovely person but I just didn’t vibe with her inflections and pacing. The book might be a solid 3-3.5, and maybe I’ll try reading the physical book later, but it might also be a bit too “light” for me. At least where I stopped in the book, I kept wanting it to be darker with more horror vibes.
