I really really wanted to like this book. The Appalachian witchy vibes were delicious. However after many starts and stops I had to admit defeat; this book just did not grab me at all. The plot is scant and the characters threadbare. Every chapter feels like reading pretty much the same thing over and over again. There’s no sense of urgency or change. I’ll definitely keep an eye out for the author’s future work but I would not recommend this book.

I wanted to like this, but some of the wiring felt unfinished or unedited.

"Motheater" initially captivated me with its stunning cover and intriguing premise, but unfortunately, it turned out to be somewhat of a disappointment. The visuals promised an adventure that never quite materialized, leaving me feeling unsatisfied and frustrated.

The central concept—a mountain with demi-god-like qualities—had great potential, yet it felt unrealistic and convoluted as the story unfolded. While I appreciated the inclusion of magic and witchcraft elements, they couldn't save the plot from its overall absurdity. The characters were another letdown; Bennie was excessively whiny, Motheater seemed too spaced out to engage, and Zach lacked any real depth, coming off as indecisive and uninspired.

Regrettably, I found myself skimming through the last chapters just to reach the conclusion. This experience served as a reminder of the old adage: don’t judge a book by its cover. Despite my hopes for a thrilling narrative, "Motheater" just didn’t resonate with me, making it a forgettable read in my book collection.
