I’m interested in the story, but think I’d rather read the book than listen to the audiobook.
This is a great look into a part of Gary Paulsen's life, full of humor and honesty. I really don't have any interest in the Iditarod but Paulsen makes the preparation & the race very interesting. I wish he had put more in this one about the 2nd Iditarod he ran but at least he explains at the end why he no longer can do the race.
Several things I learned from this book:
1. People who run the Iditarod are insane
2. Gary Paulsen is insane, but he is not a quitter
3. Gary Paulsen's wife must love him very, very much
I laughed out loud many times while reading this. (The funniest bit for me was the 6 skunk run, I think.) But Paulsen also makes you feel the beauty and awesomeness of the whole experience.

Such a shame this book is out of print, I really enjoyed Paulsen's poignant, funny storytelling about training for and running the Iditarod. A good read for adolescents and adults alike, for outdoor adventurers or just fans of good writing.
