A pretty average book, but quite entertaining to listen to when you have errands to run.
It's short, fast-paced and easy to get into, I don't think I would've picked it up otherwise.

What to expect:
∘ New Adult
∘ Fantasy Romance
∘ Fae & Royalty
∘ Competition to win the Prince's hand in marriage
∘ Short & Fast-paced
∘ Seamstress FMC
Tropes:
∘ Enemies to Lovers
∘ Slowburn
∘ Found Family

Don't expect much from the main character, as she is a lost and naive girl and I hope she'll get some character development in the next books.
The prince is an enigma and everyone believes he's gone mad. I'm starting to believe it too...
I'll continue this series for now.

This was a great book! The cover is gorgeous, and the inside is just as pretty. I absolutely loved the main character, Dahlia. She's
Spoileradopted (so mysterious parentage - and seems to be turning more fae every day after she arrives in their world)
and has a nice amount of spunk tempered by good sense. She reacts realistically but intelligently, and is someone to root for. Besides her, I also liked Gullie and (eventually) Mira. I'm a bit lukewarm on the prince, but it's only been a week in book time so I guess I'll see. Onto the next one!

Finished this whole series in two days and it was so good. It's my favorite read of 2021 so far. The writing was beautiful and descriptive. The characters- oh my goodness the characters were EVERYTHING I wanted them to be. A smart heroine who is so much more than she originally thought. Magic. A complex love interest. It's the Selection meets ACOTR. The chemistry between the H and h was out of this world. Amazing friendships and twists at every turn. This series was everything to me and I am sad that it's over. What am I going to read now?

This review covers all the first 3 books of the series.

book one: 4 stars
book two: 4 stars
book three: 3.5 stars

I’m not even sure where to start with all of this because I have a lot to say but I don’t want to spoil anything so I’ll try and keep this as short as possible!

WRITING: could this be a new favourite indie author? I think so! Everything about this book had me clawing for more (so much so I finished all three released books in 24 hours) so that’s gotta show some talent, right?
PLOT: book one and two were definitely my favourites but that’s primarily because it focused on the selection & the trials they had to face were really interesting. I liked book three and for our main character to go on her expedition of finding answers. I have a feeling I will like the fourth book more as we are going back to where it started.
CHARACTERS: so Cillian has my heart and I honestly loved all our secondary characters! Gullie and Mira were hilarious and their interactions were great and I really liked the build up with the romance.

The only thing I can critique for all three books is that I wanted more world building and explanations for things and we didn’t get that. I was confused at some parts and wanted some more depth regarding the history of the fae world.

Overall, l would definitely recommend this series so far!
