My thoughts on this book can be summed up by saying "Meh". I admittedly started this book during a little book slump of mine, but it still didn't really grab me after that was over. It took me quite some time to really become interested and even then, I wasn't really all that interested. Most of the plot and reveals seemed very predictable to me.
While the main male character was awful, I didn't find that he was written so incredibly despicably that I was furious with him. He just seemed to be written as privileged (which is no excuse for his actions, but better writing of him could have helped). I enjoyed that the females characters had some growth and development throughout, but again, it felt a little stiff and predictable.
I also was a little confused about the courtroom drama that this was supposed to be. I normally love books that deal a great bit with the courtroom, the dialogue and descriptions. This one, however, didn't really seem to spend too much time there, instead focusing more on life outside the courtroom and on their college years. What time we were there didn't seem that dramatic either. That was a bit of a letdown.
Overall, just happy to be able to take it back to the library now and start on the next one.

DNF, I just couldn't come to terms with the plot especially with current events. I just don't care to read about an abuser's point of view or the viewpoints of the people that support them.
A solid 3.5 star read. I enjoyed it enough and the story trotted along at a good pace but the book was just so wordy; could've done with lopping off 50-100 pages. Found the ending unsatisfying, wished Kate could've found the revenge she'd been hoping for.

3 Stars because it felt like more build up throughout and then somewhat of a let down ending. The audio book was really well done.

El final me pareció muy abrupto, terminó el libro sin una conclusión a la historia.
Las dos estrellas son porque me parece que hace visible un tema importante que no es visible, pero tampoco lo hace muy bien.
Encontré muchas contradicciones en la historia y en los personajes mismo, tenían una idea y al mismo tiempo pensaban de manera contraria.
Me decepcionó mucho, esperaba más.

Even knowing, more or less, what was going to happen because of the miniseries, this novel was SO GOOD! Drew you in, made you feel for the characters, had you questioning your own thoughts/perceptions. Just really enjoyed this one. Top notch writing, too!
