This was a fantastic continuation on the story of what happened after Raven Queen stated she would make her own Ever After. There has been a great divide between all the students denoting those who wanted their original story and ever afters as the Royals and all those who want to make their own story as the Rebels. With the divide between all the students things started to go horribly wrong. Leaving a trail of disaster and rebellions behind them, Apple started to doubt herself as a leader and Maddie Hatter got caught in a horrible situation. The characters must work together to help solve the problems that have arose from the aftermath of Legacy Day.

This book continued in the cuteness that came from the first in the series. Shannon Hale did a fabulous job with the story and addition of new characters and their secrets and stories. In this story you learn more about characters that were introduced in the first book . The characters are so dynamic and full of personality. They are quirky and all have such different stories. Maddie Hatter is definitely one of my favorite characters! She is silly and highly entertaining. The other characters like Apple and Raven are such strong characters and send out such good messages about strong females and deciding your own life. The way that Hale also works and weaves together the fairy tales is perfection.

Overall, this is a great sequel to The Storybook of Legends! It was precious and absolute adorable. The language and writing is wonderful. The book is full of adventure and has great lessons about being yourself and finding your own spot in life! I can’t wait for the third book that comes out later this month! This like my review for the first book is very repetitive. I just had a hard time expressing my feelings. This book just made me so happy and was such a fast read. Although it is meant for a younger audience I am so happy I read it and highly recommend it!

This book was fairy wondlandiful cute fun and just one of those books that you read it for how cute it is. Who cares if the plot doesn't make a whole lot of sense and who cares if it gets a little muddled this book uses intricate language I was honestly super pleased when the word 'incredulous' was used. I was impressed and had something redeeming about this series. The more I thought about it the more I remembers other high level vocabulary words being utilized the first book used antagonist and protagonist. These words being used in a book series that is marketed towards fourth grade to seventh using words like that.

This book is cute and educational there is more than meets the cover :)

I complained about the first book's toy company derived story, made solely to sell dolls. I complained about the cotton candy coated hyperbole used in disgusting amounts that sucked my daughter in. And yes, out of principle, I am still a little nauseous about that part, but I can see past it now to the messages these books give little girls. The first book tells girls it's ok to follow their own destinies. OK, I like that. This book shows girls how to be good friends. I really like that. As a mom to a girl, I worry about how girls (of all ages) treat each other. The girls in this book disagree but work it out and also defend and depend on each other. They are smart, independent, resourceful, caring and brave. My daughter LOVED this book, she gives it 5 stars, I give it 3 for a compromise of 4!

I really like this series, and I think one of the things I like most is the fact that neither group - the rebels and the royals - is villified unlike so many school based books. There's no bitchy popular group who gets their comeuppance with the noble suffering nerds winning in the end - just different groups wanting different things, but whose motivations still make sense. It's nice not to have girls pitted against each other for once. Also I just love how Shannon Hale writes her characters, they remind me a little of Tamora Pierce's although I'm not sure why.
