I really really wanted to enjoy this. Partly because I own it, and I don't like dnf-ing books that I spent money on, but also because I genuinely enjoyed the first book. However, what I managed to overlook in the first became more difficult in this one. Though the story has a lot of potential, and I really care for the characters, I found myself wading through so much extra in order to get to it. Every sentence felt like it could be cut in half. I've seen other reviews complaining about the amounts that clothes are described, and that doesn't bother me too much, but I can see where they're coming from -- there's just too much detail. I want to get to the meat of the story, not stay hovering on the surface.
Again, I really wanted to like this book, so if I get the chance, possibly this summer, I'll try to continue it. But for now, and for the foreseeable future, it will stay on the shelf.
