The plot was non-existent for 95% of this book and Arlo was so unbelievably stupid but I'll still read the next one to see what happens with Aurelian.

Finally finished the second installment of the Hollow Star Saga and I am OBSESSED!! Ashley Shuttleworth has managed to create a beautiful world filled with so many amazing characters, captivating twists, and jaw-dropping moments. I am so impressed with their writing skills, honestly. I enjoyed this book more than the first one because I liked that it was all contained within the Courts and the majority of this book took place at the Luminous Palace. I liked exploring more of the folk lore and the fae mythology, and I enjoyed how seamless the story flowed. I can’t wait to read more. I feel like this series is going to break my heart, and I’m not looking forward to THAT, but I never want this adventure to end. I’m so happy that our delusional little gays all got their heads out of their butts and made their relationships official. It’s about time! Now please let them live happily ever after, Ashley Shuttleworth!

You see a lot of examples about the “sophmore slump” and I can safely say that this series does not fall into that phenomenon. This book is probably my favorite one in the series (and I can say that because I'm writing this review after I finished the whole series).
It took everything that I loved from the first book and expanded on it. And, honestly, I found this to be a more interesting plot. In the beginning it might seem like not a lot is happening, but then once things start happening, they really start happening. And I’ve never read a book ending that shocked me as much as this one did. It was very unexpected but at the same time it wasn’t that surprising. I don’t know how the author did it.
I loved getting a better sense of the characters. And I loved the focus on Vehan and Aurelian. And I liked that Celadon got more screentime (pagetime?) in this book. And I liked the extra chapters from [redacted’s] point of view bc I feel like we can understand why they do what they do in the end and it creates for a more well-rounded villain.
