Refreshing

Loved the evolution of Cooper and Violet’s story. The slow build to oh so hot crescendo. The best thing about this book that it was mainly told from Cooper’s point of view. It was refreshing to read how the hero was pining over the heroine. The story just hits different when it’s told from the hero’s perspective. This story gave me butterflies and happy sighs. It’s a quick read and a wonderful listen on audio. I can’t wait to continue on with the series.

Quarterback Cooper Armstrong is finally playing again, and his team is experiencing a winning season. The Gods are good. Now if he can renew his contract all will be perfect. When he is spotted with his best friend's sister at a charity event, it becomes the talk of the town, and the team's owner is pleased. This results in the two of them entering into a fake relationship but whose faking what?

Gads I love Cooper. The man is cocky, sexy and just a tad adorkable. Seriously he is dreamy. Violet Pierson has known Cooper since the second grade and has been crushing on him ever since. Only she is Trent's little sister, and he's never looked at her twice. I loved the banter and chemistry between these two. It is obvious they know and like each other, and despite Cooper's initial declarations, it soon becomes clear he is in over his head.

It was such a hoot seeing these two kiss for the crowd and getting their reactions. Blakely slowly builds up the sexual tension before turning up the heat. It felt fresh, hot and delicious with a touch of sweet that curled my toes.

Aside from the romance, we get a little Football. We meet the team, see their rituals, enjoy their comradery and become caught up in the game. Secondary characters, Violet's hairdressing business, and friends balance out the tale and make us feel apart of their circle.

Zackery Webb narrators and the man's voice is sexy delivering the cocky and adorable sides of Cooper. His females voices are believable, and I quickly become immersed in the tale. This review was originally posted at Caffeinated Reviewer

I saw Most Irrestitable Player on Amazon for free (a short novella from Violet's P.O.V that takes place before this book) and thought it looked cute. So I finally read it last night and after I finished it I knew I had to read Most Valuable Player as soon as possible and finish the story of Violet and Cooper. This was a great romantic comedy! This one was light on the drama and high on the humor. This is told in Cooper's p.o.v and I really enjoyed that he wasn't a jerk. This was a best friends turned fake girlfriend to are we really faking it anymore? I will definitely have to check out the other books in this series because I really enjoyed getting to know the other guys and can't wait to see what happens in their romantic lives. I will also have to read more from Lauren Blakely now too because I liked this book so much!

5 Coop is My MVP CROWNS

MVP is an apt name for Lauren Blakely's newest hero and story as it has taken the number one slot of all her books. The characters, the banter, the sexual chemistry, and the relationship between Cooper and Violet makes this another must read HIT.

Cooper is the star of the show, on and off the field. I absolutely love his character, solidifying, yet again, that Lauren Blakely can write a Male POV like few can. He is humble yet confident and sweet with just the right amount of swagger. He is absolutely perfect, and I couldn't have loved him more for his interactions on and off the field with Violet and all of the other characters. He will be one of my favorite rom-com heroes EVER!

Violet is the type of heroine I love from Ms. Blakely. She is so incredibly sweet, but there is a sassy side to her that comes out to play. I love her independence, her sexual freedom, and her love of her career, the game, and the people she cares about. More than all of that, though, I admire Violet's mind. She is smart, witty, and hilarious. Cooper and her completely complement each other in every way.

The chemistry between these two will not only have readers loving the characters but also their story. There is just something that clicks about them, drawing the reader into their romance. The relationship also gives the standard fake-relationship, best friend sister romance something different. This is a standard romance trope, and yet it reads as completely unique. Lauren Blakely has made this well-used trope brand new, and their story will entice readers, making it impossible to put this book down and not become enamored with their journey.

Lauren Blakely never disappoints me, but the Most Valuable Playboy has hit Super Bowl status. If the book world had a championship, this author would certainly have a huge ring sitting on her finger because she certainly scored the winning goal with Cooper and Violet, as well as the amazing secondary characters. So bring on the confetti raining from the sky and the media coverage, because this MVP should be a one-click for all!

Cooper and Violet, wow loved this book. I love all Lauren Blakely stories and this one was over the top. I want more like this one. The romance is amazing, the story flowed perfectly, I read it in one sit and still wanted more.

I listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed the narrator.

“That looks like a woman who wants to be kissed. Who wants to be touched. Who wants to be taken.”

What a fun, fun read! I mean with a fake relationship and friends to lovers story-line, you just can’t go wrong.

Told from the male point of view, Most Valuable Playboy follows the story of Violet and Cooper. Cooper is known as the team playboy, but this year, he’s decided that things need to change. He’s taken a vow of celibacy, deciding that he needs to focus more on his game and the sport than what’s in his pants. Soon enough though, Cooper will find out that keeping it in his pants is a lot harder than it seems. When Violet pretends to be Cooper’s girlfriend to help him escape a desperate situation, Cooper’s restraint will be tested. Will Cooper give in to the not so friendly feelings that he has for Violet? Will he be able to prove to Violet that he is a guy worth taking a chance on? There is only one way to find out…

Overall, I thought this book was a really enjoyable read. I thought the story-line was a ton of fun. I mean, you have sports, sexy men, a fake relationship and a friends to lovers tale, all mixed in to one exciting read. Cooper and Violet were a ton of fun together. You could spot their connection instantly. I loved that they were friends first and that their connection slowly progressed into something more. One of things that I enjoy most about those fake relationship story-lines is the scorching chemistry and blurred lines, and I gotta tell you these two had in spades. It was a joy to watch Cooper and Violet navigate their way from fake to reality.

Most Valuable Playboy was an exciting read from beginning to end. This story is a lot of fun and is incredibly well written. The characters are real and easy to relate to. Cooper and Violet’s story checked all the boxes for a great romance and then some!

4.5 stars

Lauren Blakely has become my go-to author when I’m looking for a lighthearted escape. Her romantic comedies are pure joy and 100% addictive. Most Valuable Playboy takes several tropes—sports romance, friends-to-lovers, and best friend’s sister—and manages to combine them successfully.

Cooper is a dedicated NFL quarterback and reformed horndog. Violet is a super cool hair stylist and the sister of Cooper’s best friend. The three of them have been close friends since elementary school. Cooper and Violet go from a mutually beneficial fake boyfriend/girlfriend arrangement to having a legitimate romance, but in a way that feels genuine. I loved the progression of their relationship.

Lauren Blakely has a special knack for convincingly telling stories from an all-male POV, and Most Valuable Playboy is a great example of this. Cooper is such an easygoing guy, and I loved peaking inside his mind as he struggles with conflicting feelings about Violet and their incredible attraction.

Cooper’s camaraderie with his fun-loving teammates is also very enjoyable. Their crazy superstitions and the lengths to which they go to keep their winning streak alive make for some great comedic moments.

Most Valuable Playboy is a delightful story that is low on drama, high on effortless humor, and with between-the-sheets action that is a wonderful blend of sugar and spice. My Lauren Blakely addiction is satisfied for now, but I know I’ll need another fix.

Cooper Armstrong is the new minted quarterback for the SF Renegades. After 3 grueling years on the bench, his time has finally come and the opportunity to prove he’s more than a pretty face or the cruel nicknames he’s been given for so long.
Violet Pierson is Cooper’s friend and his best friend’s little sister. She’s a girl who will have his back if he needs her to and that’s how she ends winning a date with him during the MVP charity auction.
A former playboy, Cooper has chosen celibacy is the way to keep his focus not wanting to risk his chances to stay with the team. When he’s thrown into a pretend relationship with Violet, he’ll find himself discovering feelings he’d never given a second thought to and when friends and family start pointing out the obvious, it will be time to figure out what is real and what is pretend.
As usual, Lauren Blakely has written a great male POV story mixing different romance subgenres as only she can do it. I don’t know much, if anything, about football, but I really enjoyed the sport references used by Cooper to describe his actions and thoughts. IMO, Ms. Blakely doesn’t disappoint and the male POV formula has proven to be more than successful, letting her showcase her ability to write about men we all end up falling in love with no matter what they do or who they are.
MVP is a fun, fast read, filled with the smoking hot scenes we are used to and a love that was just meant to be. There will be love, lust, loyalty and a sense of honor only an LB hero has. I think any reader will enjoy Violet and Cooper’s story and their friends.

This was a fun best friends sister story.

It was quick, fun, little to zero angst with some great sexy times.

I think I'm in love with Zachary Webber's voice.
