Lauren Blakely has become my go-to author when I’m looking for a lighthearted escape. Her romantic comedies are pure joy and 100% addictive. Most Valuable Playboy takes several tropes—sports romance, friends-to-lovers, and best friend’s sister—and manages to combine them successfully.

Cooper is a dedicated NFL quarterback and reformed horndog. Violet is a super cool hair stylist and the sister of Cooper’s best friend. The three of them have been close friends since elementary school. Cooper and Violet go from a mutually beneficial fake boyfriend/girlfriend arrangement to having a legitimate romance, but in a way that feels genuine. I loved the progression of their relationship.

Lauren Blakely has a special knack for convincingly telling stories from an all-male POV, and Most Valuable Playboy is a great example of this. Cooper is such an easygoing guy, and I loved peaking inside his mind as he struggles with conflicting feelings about Violet and their incredible attraction.

Cooper’s camaraderie with his fun-loving teammates is also very enjoyable. Their crazy superstitions and the lengths to which they go to keep their winning streak alive make for some great comedic moments.

Most Valuable Playboy is a delightful story that is low on drama, high on effortless humor, and with between-the-sheets action that is a wonderful blend of sugar and spice. My Lauren Blakely addiction is satisfied for now, but I know I’ll need another fix.

HOT MAN COVER <3

Most Valuable Player was a pretty quick audio. I loved it from start to finish. Cooper was swoon-worthy and I loved Violet once I met her. Their chemistry was amazing and of course, I was totally down for them being an actual item. Of course, their "relationship" starts off fake as shit. However, lines are soon crossed and they start diving into having actual feelings for one another.

Violet is one of those girls who doesn't take any shit from anyone. I LOVED HER SO MUCH. She was kind of like my spirit animal.. but in character form. I loved seeing her and Cooper going from the best of friends.. to the best of lovers. Again, they were amazing together and I was so happy that they realized things stopped being fake and started to become real.

In the end, these two were adorable. I laughed and smiled like a crazy lunatic. I loved the smut because it was amazing due to their chemistry. Also, I mean it's smut.. how could it be bad?

Lauren Blakely scores another touchdown with Most Valuable Playboy. Charm. Humor. Forbiddance. Male POV. Football. Pretend relationship. Sexual tension. Cooper Armstrong. Violet Pierson. A bachelor auction… What more could you ask for? This book had it all and I enjoyed every second of it. I'm calling an audible and changing up the order of my favorite Blakey boys because the dreamy and lovable quarterback, Cooper Armstrong, needs to be on that list.

When I first learned Lauren Blakely was releasing a full length football romance -we got a glimpse of her sport romance skills with the novella Out of Bounds - I was over the moon excited. Like being drafted by your hometown NFL team excited. Like throwing a 60 yard pass into the end zone to win the game excited. Like winning an MVP award excited. With all this excitement, I am beyond thrilled that Lauren not only met expectations but exceeded them. I mean, of course she did. The women is a pro, an absolute pro, at the friends to lovers/ best friend's sisters/ fake relationship tropes. Each story better than the last.

Most Valuable Playboy is equal parts humor, heart, and amazing character chemistry. Cooper and Violet are perfect together. They share a bond that goes much farther than just friendship; even before they enter their faux relationship. The way Violet initially came to Cooper's rescue without being asked because she just knew he needed her proves it. They were so in sync with each other. Their back and forth banter and jokes were easy and fun. I just loved them. The forbidden element gave this story an incredibly sexy and delicious tension. He wanted her. She wanted him. But obligations, hidden feelings and fear stood in their way from going after what they wanted. Goodness! This story is so good. So soooo good.

I could not get enough of this book. If you are looking for a book with a sweet, charismatic guy to swoon over or a kick-ass, strong and independent female to admire or a fun, captivating story to get lost in, well the queen of the rom-com has just what you need. I simply had the best time reading Most Valuable Playboy. I'm excited to see what more this team has to offer.

READ/LISTEN TO MOST IRRESISTIBLE GUY BOOK 0.5 FIRST, PREQUEL TO BOOK 1
Fantastic start to series by Lauren Blakely
Cooper is new player in team but needs to prove his bit to become permanent.
Violet is his bff sister and totally off limits, so when he has a crisis and they become fake boyfriend and girlfriend to protect their jobs. Things get very heated very quickly and the relationship gets serious.
Absolutely loved this story and how it plays out.
The narrators are amazing and do absolute justice to this book and others they do

Most Valuable Playboy by Lauren Blakely

Narrated by Zachary Webber

Standalone Contemporary Sports Romance, Male POV
4.5 Stars

Lauren Blakely amazes me. She churns out books so quickly that you would think that they might lose some of the magic, but they never do, EVERY SINGLE ONE has been AMAZING. She is a “drop everything and read” author for me, because her stories never fail to make me swoon, smile, fall in love, laugh and plain-old feel good. Most Valuable Playboy is no exception. I am not a sports romance lover for the most part, but I am when Lauren Blakely writes it! She has a way of combining common tropes, in this case sports romance, childhood friends, friends to lovers and best friend’s sister, and she makes them into the perfect steamy romance.

Cooper is an NFL Quarterback and reformed playboy. He has the reputation of being well-worth the bidding at the annual charity bachelor auction, if you know what I mean. The team owner’s cougar sister really wants to win every inch of Cooper, and she is a bit creepy about it, so he enlists his good friend and best friend’s sister, Violet to bid whatever she needs to bid to win.

When Violet wins, they suddenly find themselves lip-locked and telling the world they are a couple.
"This kiss rocks the motherfucking world of kisses."

The PR people love it, so they continue the ruse.
"I’m wildly attracted to my best friend’s sister, but I have to pretend I don’t want to kiss her, touch her, fuck her, and take her home with me. That’s where the true faking starts for me."

I have to say, this was one of the sweeter, cuter books by Lauren. I’m not complaning by any means, but it was pretty angst-free.

Cooper is a hot, dirty talker, but he's fun too.
"I want to taste them and suck on them before I kiss my way down your body and settle between your legs, where I plan on introducing you to my tongue. And my tongue is very much looking forward to making your pussy’s acquaintance."

And he is never an asshole. He is always healthily respectful, as are all of Lauren’s heroes.
Wanting her is simply a fact in my universe. It’s gravity. It’s the moon spinning around Earth.

That’s one of the things I really loved about The Most Valuable Playboy. They both had careers that the other respected, and they had such a healthy, functional, fun relationship.
I know she’ll be here when my career is over, because she was there before it started. She’ll be here, because I can see forever in her eyes.

And of course, Lauren brings us some of the best sexy times :)
I would very much like to give you another orgasm. I find it helps my focus on football immensely.
“I’ll take one for the team, then."

  • •So freaking cute!

  • Dislikes:

  • •It may have been a bit too cute. With no angst at all I wouldn’t call this a super memorable read.

  • The Narration:

Zachary Webber is usually one of my favorite male narrators. He did a good job with this, but there were definitely times where I felt like he was just robotically reading rather than voice acting. Sure, at times his acting skills were there, but I just didn’t feel like he gave his best performance here. Still, not his best is still better than most others.

    The Down & Dirty:

Most Valuable Playboy is another male point-of-view winner for Lauren Blakely. Funny, sweet, sexy, with dirty talking, hot sex and little angst, Most Valuable Playboy brings a new cast of amazing characters that I hope we see more of. Zachary Webber’s all male pov narration is often sexy, but I felt like this wasn’t his best work, as he sometimes sounded more like he was just reading than acting. Still I love how healthy the relationship was, and how easily Lauren combined so many common tropes into another uniquely enjoyable read that you will smile all the way through.

Trent raises a glass of beer and takes a long swallow as I walk over. His eyes never leave me. Why do I feel as if I'm in trouble? Oh wait. I kissed his sister in a ballroom on cable TV.
    That's why.
When I reach him, I say, "Am I being sent to bed without supper?"

Trent drums his fingers on the table and stares at me, waiting. "Anything you want to tell me?"

"Did you know that Mr. Monopoly used to sell chips as the Pringles dude?"

    "What?"

"The Pringles guy and Mr. Monopoly. Doppelgängers. Google them. Once you do, you can't unsee it."
