Lauren Blakely is one of my most-read authors in the romance genre--that is, I've read more books written by her than any other romance author except for Nalini Singh. This is not surprising at all because she's a very prolific author and her books are like crack.

Most Valuable Playboy was another super fun read that I devoured right quick because of it's potato chip-like addicting quality--just like you can't just eat one chip, you can't just read one chapter. You keep going until you consume the entire thing.

Most Valuable Playboy is written entirely in Cooper's first person POV. He was the starting quarterback of the San Francisco's NFL football team, the Renegades. But, for the last three years prior, he was a benchwarmer while the Renegade's then-quarterback before he retired. This didn't bother Cooper, however, even though he was called some unflattering nicknames over the years. He knew his time will come, and that time is now. It doesn't hurt that for the last few years, he's always been the highest ticket item in the players' annual charity auction where the ladies (and some men) bid on the players for a night on the town.

But, now that Cooper is the team's starting quarterback, he can't get into his usual (naughty) antics while on a date with the winning bidder. He needs to focus on leading his team to victory, and he has kept his pants zipped up and planning to do so for the duration of the season. Unfortunately, the Renegade's owner's sister was at the auction and she has her sight set on winning Cooper for a date night and then some. Thankfully, Cooper's best friend's little sister Violet was there to save him from the cougar. And to make sure she does stay away, Cooper and Violet end up announcing that they're in a relationship at the auction and sharing a very steamy kiss. However, Cooper's agent insist that he and Violet keep up the charade of being boyfriend and girlfriend while the agent negotiates Coopers contract.

Soon Cooper is seeing Violet, who's always been a friend to him, in a whole new light. He's very much attracted to her, not only because Violet is physically beautiful, but she's smart and kind, and he really enjoyed hanging out with her and their conversations together. Also, their kisses are very explosive and he couldn't stop thinking about her. But, Violet is his best friend's litter sister and it's a given that he's not supposed to hit on her, and Cooper was determined to keep his pants zipped for superstitious reasons. Also, does Violet even like him back, or is she purely just faking it to play her part of pretend girlfriend?

Most Valuable Playboy was pure romantic comedy fun. For me, it's even lighter than Lauren's previous male POV novels. It is a bit of a slow burn in that, while Cooper and Violet shared some kisses, there was no bedroom action until a little over the halfway point. But, once we got there it was H.O.T.! I absolutely rooted for Cooper and Violet--they were both wonderful and Cooper was especially lovable and such a cutie. I also enjoyed the secondary characters, like Cooper's teammates and his agent, Ford. Cooper and Ford's bromance and banter was hilarious.

While Most Valuable Playboy is not a top favorite of mine of Lauren's male POV novels, reading it was still a fun, swoony good time. If you're in need of a pick me up, especially after reading a dark romance, I highly suggest you pick up Most Valuable Playboy. Like I said, Lauren Blakely's books are like crack. If you're a fan like me, pick this book up and feed your addiction!

My god Lauren can write a man.

I love to see a guy's POV in a romance book, but I prefer having both the guy and the girl's POV. However, I really enjoyed this cute fake relationship, friends to lovers story. I think I would've liked it even more as an audiobook since I love the narrator. I like how Cooper handled Violet and her feelings and I was so happy about the ending since it was very realistic (no spoilers).

I received an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review. Review can be found on *Milky Way of Books*.

Oh Lauren Blakely! How I love your male characters! Despite them being fictional you still make us wish they were real! Cooper is funny and adorable and Violet is simply amazing! The childhood friends to lovers trope is always one I like, especially if it's accompanied with humor, sass and steamy scenes!

And that goes for all the books of Lauren Blakely! I love her writing and her positivity. :)

Friends to lovers. I love these books because although there’s always a little drama, it doesn’t derail the whole world and make everyone go batsgit crazy.
