Good book. I wasn't sure at first if I would like it, because Haidar was such a cold, vindictive guy. He had returned to Azmahar as one of the men in the running to take over the country. He saw this as a way to make up for his mother's evil ways. He was also going to get Roxanne back in his bed. Roxanne was back in the country as a political economist, to help the country recover from the disaster the previous ruler had caused. She knew she would end up seeing Haidar again, and wanted nothing to do with revisiting the past. This book had a lot of emotion - neither Haidar nor Roxanne was subtle about them. It became obvious, as more confrontations took place, that there were things going on that neither one had been aware of. There were several times that a lack of communication nearly caused disaster in their developing relationship, and I just wanted to smack them both. The confrontations with his brother Jalal and former friend Rashid show that there are still conflicts to resolve in the next books. I was glad to see that Haidar finally learned the benefits of opening up.

I read this book after reading Fifty Shades of Grey (bleh) and all through it I was thinking now *this* is what romance is all about, this is how you write about alpha-male dominating men, this is how you create a strong and likeable main character. I'd never heard of Olivia Bates before this book but I'll definitely look for more books by her.
I loved the verbal exchanges between Haidar and Roxanne, very smart. It was entertaining to read till the end even though I was confused by the royal intrigue and history. I think I need to read the rest of the series. I'm really looking forward to Rashid's book. Jalal is nice and all but Rashid really intrigued me...what's his story? What is he really like?

Hello, Olivia Gates!

Hello, Harlequin Presents series Desire!

I have a great many friends that read these books but the truck load. Always, I have been curious as to what draws them to the quick reads of Harlequin that seem to cookie cutter and perfect. So, I took a chance and requested for review a few books. Let me just say, that with Olivia Gates, I was not disappointed!

The Sheikh’s Redemption is the story about one hell of a sexy Alpha male—well three that we see actually. Gates is so kind as to introduce us to three in this first installment. All I can say is yum and let me count the ways this story sexed me up and made me cry. I was moved, I cried, I laughed, I fell to my knees and nearly begged for Haider to tie up Foxy Roxy. For a woman that has sworn off men and all the intimate details the woman is a boiling over pot of smexy. I loved her as heroine! She was a strong, yet vulnerable female, without being annoyingly vulnerable. Did they need to just talk it out sometimes—yes. But don’t all the H/h relationships in romance books?

Not only was this read well written, but it gave me a satisfying storyline that had me hunting down the next installment, which wasn’t written at the time, to the Desert Nights Series. I would love to read more by Olivia. She gives me the hot Alphas I want, in a vanilla relationship, but it is so totally satisfying!

I love Olivia Gates' stories. High sensuality and larger-than-life heroes who fall in mad, desperate love. This one was no exception. Loved that Haidar and Roxanne talked themselves out of misunderstandings before they happened.

Update Review:
Definitely my least favourite in the trilogy, I never go back and reread it as I usually do with the other two books in this trilogy. I just didn’t connect with the story of the characters. If you feel this story isn’t for you, read the next one it’s much better.
