Vaguely reminiscent of Pretty Little Liars. And yet... I still want to know what happens.

I don’t know if its because i was in the mood for this story or because of the twists and secrets but i really enjoyed this book, read in one sitting.

Some of the same themes as seen in Pretty Little Liars but i love that show and this was exactly what i was looking for, this book kept me entertained and intrigued all the way through!

So glad i bought both books at the same time on to book two tomorrow

The Perfectionists is my first Sara Shepard book, as I'd never been tempted to try the Pretty Little Liars series. I think what probably won me over with this book is the gorgeous, yet simple cover. I'd heard about the book whilst at the Hot Key Blogger Brunch and loved the sound of it too. It's the story of five girls who bond over their mutual hatred of Nolan Hotchkiss, who is king of their high school. They come up with the idea for the perfect way to kill Nolan, whilst never planning to actually use it. The only problem is that Nolan ends up dead, just the way they had discussed. They didn't kill him, but now they have to figure out who did.

I liked this story and I whizzed through it at super speed because I wanted to find out the truth. I loved that each girl had her own individual story and reasons for wanting Nolan dead. I liked learning about the characters and how they ended up together, plotting the murder of a teenage boy. I thought the pacing was brilliant and there was a good deal of suspense in this story. It worked to get my attention and hold it, then leave me wanting more. I finished this book and just had to get to the sequel because I needed answers.

DNF mainly because I lack the mental energy to go through this book and also the story is so repetitive. Perfect people on the outside, dark secrets on the inside, one person knows it and that person is either dead or disappeared or a murderer blah blah blah, we had 14 books of pll and most of them were interesting, the lying game was too, for most of the time and then follow me series that was a serial killer mystery and sure, great but this, again high school? Least you could do is make something interesting instead of remixing PLL out here, you know? No thank you.

If you love Pretty Little Liars, you will love this series. It's about five girls who have one thing in common: hating the same golden boy at their school. They all toss around ideas to kill him but they don't actually plan on doing it. They want to prank him instead. And that's exactly what they do. The girls pull together to prank him at a party but Nolan actually ends up dead... in the exact why they talked about. Now, the killer is pinning the murder on the five girls so now they must scramble to find out who the real killer is. Each girl has side plots as well. For example, one of them is developing a relationship with her best friend's boyfriend. Another is growing feelings for her boyfriend's brother. If you like mystery, romance, and drama, this is the book for you!
