I found the first part a bit slow but after about 100 pages, I was hooked and wanted to know how Nancy Wake got onto the battle fields in France. The fact that it is based on a real heroine and that many of the events are true make it even more captivating. I’m glad this was recommended to me.

This. Book. Wow, just absolutely incredible.

It was such magic to me; favorite era, favorite side-by-side storytelling, favorite kind of heroine. A read that made me want to do so many things: wear red lipstick, fight for the Resistance, and have a code name just to name a few. Left me speechless.

This is a story about Nancy Wake highlighting her brave days of WWII as she was instrumental with the French resistance.

I listened to this book on Audible and regret not having a pen to write down some dates and notes as there was an incredible amount of research done to create this book. Parts made me cringe when the author revealed the horrors of the war with torture from the Nazis. At one point, I had to stop listening and picked it up later only to try to figure out in my mind where I left off. At some point, I will read the printed copy as I enjoy spy novels based on true stories. It's pretty clear that Nancy Wake was one powerful, brave woman.
