The ADHD Effect on Marriage: Understand and Rebuild Your Relationship in Six Steps by Melissa Orlov

This is a good book if your spouse has ADHD and your marriage is struggling. I learned a lot as well as my spouse. Where it falls down is that it focuses too much on her marriage experiences and men who have ADHD. If it's your wife with the ADHD, there are behaviors and issues that she doesn't touch (i.e., femininity).

Some interesting insights and techniques, but ultimately it’s deeply heteronormative and feels stuck in outdated sexist stereotypes.
Despite this I found it informative and identified things I would like to implement in my own relationship.

A great book about ways to deal with adhd in a long-term relationship. I found it very informative, but the quotations from adhd forums seemed to be superfluous. It had good advice but lacked clear instructions for implementing it.

Another great book that’ll help! Will definitely be rereading this in the future! Listened on 1.5 speed via audiobook and followed along in the book.

This basically said so much without saying anything at all, and not in a good way. What I got from this was that adhd is difficult for both partners in a marriage and that you should take medicine and seek further therapy/help if it doesn’t work. Through every chapter, that was the repeated message I got from the author. It rubbed me the wrong way. I just didn’t find it very intellectual.

This book gives great insight on what a marriage is like when either spouse has add/adhd. There were many points in the book where I caught myself saying that's my life but in my opinion not enough recommendations on how to work on those points. Couples therapy and seeking out therapist that specializes in add/adhd was the best recommendation in the book. I still gave the book four stars though because I understand that a book cannot solve everything!

Some good info. Very heteronormative and sexist examples where most of the husbands were pretty verbally abusive and their only responsibility was work OR school - while their wife (the assumed non-ADHD partner) did all the life management, cooking, cleaning, and child care, plus usually worked a full time job.
